REPORT OF THE 6 TH GAELF MEETING, JUNE 2010<br />

Dr Engels emphasized that teaming up<br />

with NTDs offers new opportunities for<br />

advancing LF elimination. He thanked the<br />

Korean hosts of the GAELF6, as well as Dr<br />

Malecela and Professor Molyneux, and<br />

pledged WHO support <strong>to</strong> Professor El-<br />

Se<strong>to</strong>uhy and Dr Lammie in the months<br />

ahead. These thanks were echoed by Dr.<br />

Malecela.<br />

Professor Molyneux thanked Dr Lee,<br />

Professor Chai and Professor Rim for their<br />

enthusiastic support of this meeting. He<br />

praised the strong tradition of<br />

parasi<strong>to</strong>logy in Korea. He also<br />

acknowledged, with gratitude, the work of<br />

the GAELF secretariat in Liverpool.<br />

Dr Jong-Koo Lee expressed his gratitude<br />

and thanks <strong>to</strong> several individuals and <strong>to</strong> all<br />

participants for a successful meeting. He<br />

thanked the participants for their<br />

commitment <strong>to</strong> eliminate LF and he<br />

expressed hope that the collaborative<br />

network represented in this GAELF<br />

meeting had been strengthened. He<br />

pledged Korea’s continued participation in<br />

LF elimination through sharing its<br />

experience and providing technical<br />

support. Dr Lee thanked all the staff from<br />

KCDC for their work in preparing for<br />

GAELF6, and he declared the meeting<br />

closed.<br />
