The Dock Brief - Review
The Dock Brief is a play written by John Mortimer, which is Produced and
Directed by Michael Hasted. Alan "Tweedy" Digweed who is best known as
a contemporary clown with Giffords Circus plays Fowle the defendant, he
shares the Everyman stage with Mark Hyde who plays Morganhall the
knarled aging barrister looking for a lucky break.
So the stage is set in the intimate Everyman Studio in Cheltenham with the
whole play taking place in a prison cell. Fowle is accused of murdering his
wife and Morganhall the barrister after years of waiting for his first Dock
Brief is to defend him. What is really engaging is that there are only the two
actors on the stage which is rare in itself and both Tweedy and Mark Hyde
really work the audience.
