Yes. Both these answers are reasonable. General faecal
micro/culture is indicated due to the air travel.
Campylobacter spp are still the commonest cause of bloody stools in
patients.
Clostridium difficile should be actively screened for, as the patient
was a recent hospital inpatient, and given the increasing incidence
of severe disease causing C. difficile serotypes internationally (yet
to be seen in Australia).
Shiga toxin producing E. coli are also a known cause of haemorrhagic
diarrhoea and should be excluded if considered likely.
