5.3 Connecting<br />

Before closing the terminal box, check that<br />

• the air clearances for explosion-proof machines (with the exception of machines<br />

for Zone 22) between non-insulated parts are maintained: ≥ 10 mm to 690 V.<br />

• the creepage distance for explosion-proof machines (with the exception of<br />

machines for Zone 22) between non-insulated parts are maintained: ≥ 12 mm to<br />

690 V.<br />

5.3.2 Tightening torques<br />

5.3.2.1 General notes<br />

CAUTION<br />

It must be ensured that there are no foreign bodies, dirt or moisture in the terminal box.<br />

Cable glands in the terminal box (see DIN 42925) and other open entries with dummy plugs<br />

are to be sealed with an O ring or a suitable flat gasket so that dust and water cannot enter,<br />

whereas the terminal box itself is to be sealed against dust and water with the original seal.<br />

Comply with the specified tightening torques for cable glands and other screw-type<br />

connections.<br />

Secure featherkey for trial operation without transmission elements.<br />
