The Royal Motor Yacht Club
The RMYC was founded in 1905 so have
recently celebrated their centenary. The
‘RM’ is situated in the beautiful area of the
harbour on the Sandbanks Peninsular.
They have 1600 members who benefit
from a recently refurbished clubhouse with
magnificent views, a yacht haven, yard
facilities and an active social, sailing and
motor boating programme.
For sailors Thursday night is ‘RM’ night
when the club puts on ‘big boat’ racing in
Poole Bay.

Lilliput SC
A few enthusiasts who sailed from Lilliput
Yacht Station got together and formed the
Lilliput Sailing Club in 1956. Originally they
used a small shed as premises but during
the early 1960's the membership outgrew
the facilities and they had to find a new
base. The ground where they are now
situated, was purchased, again the
clubhouse was a shed but the foundation
stone of the present building was laid in
1965 and it was formally opened a year
later. The building work was done by
members and new applicants have to
commit themselves to do regular tasks and
duties when asked, including the laying and
servicing moorings.
LSC has an active social programme.
