Yarmouth Harbour ~
A new 2011 welcome
In 2011 Yarmouth Harbour is eighty years
old, having been set up as a Trust Port in
1931, so whilst we like to be at the leading
edge of technology, and meeting ever
changing customer demand we also strive
to retain the traditional values and exceptional
customer service our customers have
come to expect in Yarmouth.
The Harbour Commissioners approved
Phase 1 of the Harbour Development and
the installation of the Fuel Pontoon in
November, all the necessary permissions
and licences having been obtained. The
new layout which includes many more
walk ashore pontoons for both residents
and visitors is due to be opened by Easter
2011. The development will offer great
new facilities including more pontoons
with electricity and fresh water, much
easier access to the shops, pubs and
restaurants of Yarmouth and the whole of
the West Wight without having to use a
tender or the Harbour Taxi.

be amended by agreement with Trinity
House and details will be contained in a
local Notice to Mariners in due course.
There will now be more bookable berths
in Yarmouth, as an increasing number of
our visitors require certainty of a berth
before setting out, book via our website:
www.yarmouth-harbour.co.uk. However
we have retained a number of each type of
berth, swinging buoys, Town Quay,
pontoons and walk ashore pontoons that
are allocated on a first come/first served
basis on arrival at the harbour entrance.
Not only are we improving facilities in
the harbour itself, but we are continuing to
refurbish the showers, this winter both the
Ladies shower blocks are to be completely
renewed. Some visitors already say that
we have some of the best showers on the
South Coast, but we aren’t content with
that we aim to be clearly the best.
The facilities for dinghies/tenders are to
be improved with racking ashore for some
of the tenders.
