Following the discussion of ancient sightings, the book concludes:
"Thus, UFO sightings not only appear to extend back 47,000 years
through time but also are global in nature. One has the feeling
that this phenomenon deserves some sort of valid scientific
investigation, even if it is a low level effort" p.459. (Curiously,
this textbook was used, so I understand, from about 1969 until
1973.) I wonder what the author thought about the Condon Report!
Chapter XXXIII of Vol. II, Introductory Space Science concludes
with the following remarkable statement.
"This leaves us with the unpleasant possibility of alien
visitors to our planet, or at least of alien control of UFOs.
However, the data are not will correlated and what questionable data
there are suggest the existence of at least three and maybe four
different groups of aliens (possibly at different stages of development).
This too is difficult to accept. It implies the existence of intelligent
life on a majority of the planets in our solar system, or a surprisingly
stron interest in earth by members of other solar systems.
"It seems we are of great interest to these peoples. Or perhaps
the routes of access from their homes to ours are much less difficult
to traverse than we suspect. Both avenues of thought deserve attention."
Neither this textbook nor the Condon Committee report makes even so
much as a passing hint at any alleged UFO crash in New Mexico. Many
people would like to find out what happened there in July of 1947.
As a result, some motion has begun in an effort to get the information
declassified and released to the public. If this were to be done, then
the mystery could be cleared up at last.
A form came in your last MUFON Journal which you could sign and send
in if you support such disclosure. I am enclosing an extra one in
this newsletter for your convenience. Maybe, just maybe, enough people
will make their desires known that someday the secrecy veil will be
lifted. Although it might take years, lets take some first steps.
Feel free to make as many copies of the form as you like and get
lots of signees. I've already sent 76 signed copies to MUFON.
Send them in to the MUFON main address as soon as possible.
The address is:
