SOVIET RIFLE PLATOON 1939/40
Soviet Special Rules
Commissar: The Commissar (or Politruk) has no influence over
Discipline Tests unless the platoon commander is taken casualty.
If the platoon commander Falls Back or fails a Discipline Test
then the Commissar will ‘remove’ him from command. Once the
Commissar takes command, he gains the Officer (15cm) special
rule and the Platoon HQ may never opt to Fall Back.
Once every turn the Commissar may use his influence with the
Section Command or one other unit within 20cm. At the start
of the player’s Orders Phase, nominate the target of the Political
Officer’s motivation;. the unit gains the Fanatic (2) rule until the
end of the player’s next Discipline Phase. A unit may only benefit
if it is at least half its original strength and may not Fall Back while
under the watchful eye of the Commissar!.
Ill-Trained: Roll a D6 before deployment. If you score a 1 or 2 then
one of your infantry squads (your choice) is drawn from very raw
recruits! Their Shoot value is one level worse than on the Order of
Battle.
Poor Combined Arms: Unless he is the defender, the Soviet player
must leave any vehicles in reserve (see Reserves rule on page 62 of
the RoE rulebook) unless they are armoured cars. However, he must
tell his opponent the exact point on his table edge that the vehicle(s)
will enter. If a road is present in the Soviet deployment zone then
any armoured vehicle(s) must deploy on it.
Vehicle Rules
Note that some tanks have multiple turrets. These follow all the
normal rules and may fire independently but machine gun ROF
is reduced to 2 if the tank’s main gun is fired as usual. Turrets
may only gain line of sight if the model allows; for example, the
two front turrets on a T-28 only fire 180° to their respective sides.
When the turret is hit by enemy fire, the main one is hit, otherwise
randomise.
Additional Equipment
The platoon may spend a number of Requisition Points (RP) on additional weapons and equipment to be distributed amongst the troops. The
cost in Requisition Points for each item is listed below. The number of RP’s is equal to the Combat Effectiveness of the force -9.
Mosin Nagant 1RP Tokarev SVT-38 (max of 3)* 4RP
Mosin Nagant Rifle-Grenade Launcher DP LMG (max. of 1) 5RP
with AP Grenades (max. of 3)*: 3RP AT Grenade (each) 1RP
Scoped Mosin Nagant (max. of 1): 3RP PPD Submachine Gun (max. of 3) 2RP
*Maximum of 1 additional weapon may be allocated to a squad (not MG, Mortar, Sniper Teams or AT Gun squads).
SOVIET RIFLE PLATOON 1939/40
