Triple Alliance Aztecs c. 1473 BCE – 1521 CE
(version July 2012)
This list represents Aztec Triple Alliance (confederation of the cities of Tenochtitlan, Texcoco
and Tlacopan, under the lead of the Mexicatl from Tenochtitlan) armies of the second part of
the empire from the annexing of Tlatelolco by Tenochtitlan (approximately 1473). Because
the sources about Aztecs (or rather Mexicatl as they called themselves) are often written
after the conquest, nothing is absolutely certain for the preceding period. In fact, this list
may be used for all the wars involving Aztecs. Their historical enemies included all nations of
Mesoamerica, including the Maya who fought against them since the end of the 15th century,
and, of course, the Spanish conquistadors.
An Aztec army must include at least a general and 2 units of either Telpochcalli or Reservists/
Tributary troops.
ranking warriors. These could include the Tlacochcalcatl, if not chosen as army general,
the Cihuacohuatl (snake woman) or the Tlacatecatl (commander of the warriors) whose
suit was characterised by his umbrella back banner called Xolotl (primary coyote god of the
chichimecs tribe, referring to the origins of the Mexicatl).
*Note that the ATTACKS bonus for the Heroic Leader trait is already included in the
profile.
** only one of each of these sub-commanders may be chosen and, except for the
Tlacochcalcatl, they may not roll for an additional trait.
