ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
PROGRAMS
FORMING THE FOUNDATION
OF THEIR FUTURE
A series of six engaging themes help kindergarten
through fifth–grade students applying basic economic
concepts to their life experiences. Each theme builds on
the previous, stressing the relationship between school
and future success. Students begin to see their place in
the world as individuals, workers and consumers.
While making sense of dollars and cents, the
Junior Achievement’s Elementary School Programs
produce an appreciation for lifelong fiscal learning,
global responsibility and personal growth.
Students learn that people must assume roles as
individuals, consumers, and workers in an expanding
environment that extends from self to global relations.
Each program theme includes activities that help
students develop appropriate decision-making and
workforce-readiness skills.
KINDERGARTEN
collection of stories read aloud by a volunteer.
FIRST GRADE
local economy.
SECOND GRADE
of workers in a community and how communities work.
how businesses contribute to the city.
FOURTH GRADE
natural, human and capital resources found in different
regions and explores regional businesses.
FIFTH GRADE
OUR NATION examines how businesses operate in
the United States and explores various economic issues
impacting these businesses.
Students learn that people must
assume roles as individuals, consumers and
workers in an expanding environment that
extends from self to global relations. Each
program theme includes activities that
help students develop appropriate
decision–making and workforce–
readiness skills
JA
MORE THAN MONEY
is most suitable for grades three
through five in an after-school
setting, but can be implemented
as an in-school program. Key
concepts addressed in the
program include the role of money
in society; earning, sharing, saving,
and spending; becoming a smart
consumer; and earning income by
starting a business
