Position Responsibilities<br />

Purpose of the Position To promote, enhance and protect the <strong>MTA</strong> brand by developing,<br />

implementing and supporting appropriate external and internal<br />

marketing and communication activities.<br />

In order of importance, list the key responsibilities/activities of the position. Each responsibility<br />

should be weighted according to the amount of time/effort spent on it during a normal year.<br />

The total weighting will be 100%.<br />

Responsibility (1) External/Internal Communications<br />

Purpose of Activity To ensure appropriate communications are used both<br />

internally and externally ensuring that the <strong>MTA</strong> brand<br />

value is maximised at all times.<br />

Example • Support the implementation of communication<br />

activities and projects arising from strategic and<br />

business plans.<br />

• Management of <strong>MTA</strong>’s website (content<br />

management) and social media accounts as well<br />

monthly reporting.<br />

• Update the <strong>MTA</strong>’s Intranet as required.<br />

• Coordinate appropriate supportive materials for<br />

online actives including videos and other<br />

dynamic/innovated applications.<br />

• Prepare and coordinate production of articles for<br />

<strong>MTA</strong> journal, <strong>MTA</strong> newsletter, website and other<br />

publications as required.<br />

• Prepare and coordinate key <strong>MTA</strong> publications<br />

including (but not limited to) Annual report,<br />

challenges brochure.<br />

• Develop and write speeches for Executive Director<br />

and President as required.<br />

• Write and distribute monthly email newsletter for<br />

<strong>MTA</strong> members.<br />

Responsibility (2) Marketing Communications<br />

Purpose of Activity To ensure the <strong>MTA</strong> is reaching its target audience<br />

effectively.<br />

Example • Assist in development and implementation of<br />

marketing strategies.<br />

• Identify internal and external target audiences for<br />

promotional material.<br />

• Support Communications Manager with the<br />

management of marketing collateral and<br />

refreshment program.<br />

• Design (through Adobe Suite and in particular<br />

InDesign), develop and project manage marketing<br />

and promotional material creation.<br />

• Support all <strong>MTA</strong> teams (including Business<br />

Development Managers, Industrial Relations Team<br />

and the Training and Employment Centre) with<br />

the creation of marketing materials.<br />

• Develop relationships with members/host<br />

employers.<br />

• Coordinate the implementation of advertising<br />

programs for the <strong>MTA</strong> and <strong>MTA</strong> Training and<br />

Employment Centre.<br />

Responsibility (3) Media Relations<br />

Purpose of Activity To ensure the <strong>MTA</strong> gains positive media coverage, and<br />

avails of appropriate publicity opportunities.<br />

Example • Produce well researched media releases.<br />

• Respond to media requests in a timely fashion in<br />

collaboration with the Communications Manager.<br />

• Conduct daily media monitoring and produce<br />

monthly media exposure report on the <strong>MTA</strong>.<br />

• Develop and maintain sound working relationships<br />

Responsibility (4) Event Management<br />

with key media and editors.<br />

• Develop and maintain current media contact list.<br />

Purpose of Activity To ensure the successful coordination of key <strong>MTA</strong><br />

events.<br />

Example • Work with the Communications Manager and<br />

Administration teams to develop and implement<br />

the event management plan for events (as<br />

required).<br />

• Act as the central liaison for <strong>MTA</strong> events ensuring<br />

all elements are prepared within the event<br />

management plan.<br />

• Develop appropriate supportive materials for<br />

events including, but not limited to Power Point<br />

presentation, information packs, awards, prizes.<br />

• Act as main event coordinator at events (as<br />

required).<br />
