Specializations within <strong>the</strong> BA degree are predominantly in floral design/event planning or l<strong>and</strong>scape design. The<br />

number <strong>of</strong> students in floral design/event planning has more than doubled since 2007; <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> students<br />

tracking in l<strong>and</strong>scape design have likewise increased dramatically, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> overall enrollment in <strong>the</strong> BA program<br />

now outnumbers <strong>the</strong> BS program. A concomitant decrease in <strong>the</strong> enrollment in <strong>the</strong> BS l<strong>and</strong>scape management<br />

program accompanied <strong>the</strong> dramatic increase in students electing <strong>the</strong> BA l<strong>and</strong>scape design specialization (Table<br />

2.2).<br />

Undergraduate Course Offerings<br />

Faculty in Horticultural Sciences <strong>of</strong>fer a diverse <strong>and</strong> comprehensive array <strong>of</strong> basic <strong>and</strong> advanced courses in<br />

horticulture including such specialties as floral design, ornamental plant identification, viticulture <strong>and</strong> enology,<br />

fruit <strong>and</strong> vegetable production, plant breeding, <strong>and</strong> nut culture. Several <strong>of</strong> our courses meet <strong>the</strong> requirements <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> various university core areas including HORT 201 (science core), HORT 203 (humanities <strong>and</strong> per<strong>for</strong>ming arts<br />

cores), HORT 225 <strong>and</strong> 315 (writing intensive courses), <strong>and</strong> HORT 481 (communication intensive course).
