OBJECTIVES<br />
By the end of the session participants should be able to<br />
* identify the major psycho social reactions that HIV positive individuals may go<br />
through.<br />
* help participants understand how to deal with the various reactions in the<br />
<strong>counselling</strong> process.<br />
Step II Brainstorming 15 Minutes<br />
a. Split participants into three groups.<br />
b. Ask each group to brainstorm on feelings and reactions that an individual may<br />
go through on being diagnosed HIV positive.<br />
Step III Group presentations 60 Minutes<br />
a. At the end of the brainstorming session, ask each group to present their findings<br />
b. Summarise the reactions and feelings identified.<br />
Step IV Plenary discussion 60 Minutes<br />
a. Discuss each of the reactions and feelings as outlined in the subject content of<br />
this training guide<br />
b. Brainstorm how counsellors can handle these reactions in a <strong>counselling</strong> session.<br />
