PHOSPHOR BRONZE
CONTACT JAWS
The jaw is press-formed around the
head of the stud, making it rigid,
permanent and impossible to
detach. Spring bronze clip is
inserted over all. The phosphor
bronze jaw is a spring in itself and
will not spread, insuring perfect
contact at all times. An extra heavy
stud bolt is used. The design of the
contact jaws is exclusive to Meter
Devices.
BLADE ASSEMBLY
The hinge jaw is formed around
the heavy stud bolt, locking it
permanently in place. The blade
pivots in the jaw on a brass rivet. A
Belleville spring washer secures
the blade. This method of assembly
provides a free turning, nonbinding
joint between blade and
jaws. Contact blades are made of
hard-drawn copper. Contact edges
are chamfered, assuring perfect
contact.
ROTOR AND SHAFT
Rotor is unusually tough and
durable, made of Textolite
(Bakelite). It is mounted on a
square shaft to prevent any
possibility of misalignment.
Contains no pins to shear off and
allow rotor to turn on the shaft.
Rotor is mounted meshing
perfectly with the teeth of the
contact blade, preventing any
possibility of working out of
alignment. Shaft does not extend
through rear of case, since the
rear hub is cast in the case.
