<strong>Ghats</strong>: from the Kalakkad Hills, "Tinnevelly"<br />

Hills and "Travancore" (Mahendragiri).<br />

Original locality: Kalakkad (= "Calcad")<br />

Hills and Mahendragiri (= "Myhendra"),<br />

"Travancore", "Southern India".<br />

Type material: 2 syntypes, from "Calcad<br />

Hills", "coll. W.T. Blanford", "82.06.5.5",<br />

NHM (reg. no. NHMUK 1906.05.05.82,<br />

register indicates: "Probably the type"). 2<br />

syntypes from "Myhendra", "coll. W.T.<br />

Blanford", "83.06.5.5", NHM (reg. no.<br />

NHMUK 1906.05.05.83, register indicates:<br />

"Probably the type"). One of the syntypes<br />

from the Calcad Hills (reg. no. NHMUK<br />

1906.05.05.82/1, Fig. 16B) is here designated<br />

as the lectotype; one of the paralectotypes<br />

(reg. no. NHMUK 1906.05.05.83/1,<br />

Fig. 16C) from Myhendra is also illustrated.<br />

Other material: 1 of 4 shells (reg. no.<br />

NHMUK 1912.04.16.908/1) from "Tinevelly",<br />

"coll. Col. R. Beddome", "908.12.iv.<br />

16", NHM (reg. no. NHMUK 1912.04.16.<br />

908, registered as "T?", Fig. 16D).<br />

Distribution: endemic to the <strong>Western</strong><br />

<strong>Ghats</strong>. Known from the Palni Hills in the<br />

southern <strong>Western</strong> <strong>Ghats</strong>.<br />

Original locality: peaks of the Palni Hills,<br />

at an elevation of 7000 feet (S. Fairbank).<br />

Type material: 2 syntypes (labelled<br />

"authentic") from "Pulni Hills", "H. F. Blanford<br />

colln., Acc. No 1944", NHM (reg. no.<br />

NHMUK 20110229), one of which is here<br />

designated as the lectotype (reg. no. NHM<br />

UK 20110229/1, Fig. 16E). The paralectotype<br />

is also illustrated (reg. no. NHMUK<br />

20110229/2, Fig. 16F).<br />

Distribution: endemic to the <strong>Western</strong><br />

<strong>Ghats</strong>. Known from the banks of the Sholayar<br />

(river) in the Anaimalai Hills, southern<br />

<strong>Western</strong> <strong>Ghats</strong>.<br />

Original locality: Anaimalai Hills, moist<br />

forest on the banks of the Sholayar, a large<br />

river, 2000 feet elevation.<br />

Type material: 3 syntypes from "Aggamalais",<br />

"coll. Col. R. Beddome", "907.12.<br />

iv.16", NHM (reg. no. NHMUK 1912.04.16.<br />

907, registered as "T"), one of which is here<br />

designated as the lectotype (reg. no. NHM<br />

UK 1912.04.16.907/1, Fig. 17A). One of the<br />

paralectotypes is also illustrated (reg. no.<br />

NHMUK 1912.04.16. 907/2, Fig. 17B).
