EDITORIAL Dear Profashionals, “What is Fashion Square? And what does it actually stand for?” Maybe that is the very question you ask yourself, in which case the answer will be of interest to you: Ever since, we have been extending a variety of services to designers/manufacturers and agencies, such as consulting, lobbying their interests, PR, marketing and we recently added the novelty “Sweepstake” raffle as a promotion for selected collections: www.fashion-square.net Focused and effective campaigns (distribution of brochures, flyers) allow us to promote this location even abroad, and have helped us in linking Düsseldorf – via our Website – with the most important fairs, such as in Paris and Milan. We recently launched “fwD fashion week düsseldorf”, thereby tagging the name under which all players from the scene can place themselves with their individual events. “Düsseldorf – the capital of fashion” is thus positioned in line with the international fashion mets: www.fashion-week-duesseldorf.de Globally renowned designers/manufacturers (around 1,000) are in the meantime present at the roughly 400 SHOWROOMS DÜSSELDORF, displaying some 2,800 collections – on an area of around 70,000 m² – either directly, or represented by agents. With “FASHION SQUARE – THE GUIDE” we are giving them an international marketing tool (1:1 also on our Internet platform) which informs the retail trade world-wide (!) in the shape of an “image brochure”. Our marketing service goes one step further by including consumers. We list the names of their retailers and collections in the SHOPFINDER, which is a virtual marketplace for consumers. This closes a circle which goes from the manufacturer via the retailer to the goal, which is the consumer. Our efficiency is based on the quality of the information: The question “Who is part of this?” calls for specialisation and limitation. This is why we invest a lot into research and observation, and not every “manufacturer/agent” can join the ranks of the Fashion Square Guide. The kind of distribution is essential for success: With a print run of 20,000 copies, the “GUIDE – Vol. 32” was delivered directly into the mailboxes of leading retailers a approximately 9,000 times – 6,000 of which in Germany, 3,000 in neighbouring countries. And even the international media (print, Internet, TV) receives the “GUIDE” and scrutinises its contents. In Düsseldorf, Milan, Munich and Paris, where the “GUIDE“ is distributed at trade shows, hotels and showrooms, it is considered a crucial “showroom location scout“. Cordially, Your Hans-J.
