The Mission of the Computer Science Program<br />
is to provide students with the ability to<br />
integrate the theory and practice of computing<br />
in the representation, processing, and use of<br />
information, while upholding tradition of the<br />

Educational Objectives<br />
The objectives of the Associate in Applied Science<br />
in Computer Science is to:<br />
1. Provide students with basic concepts and<br />
principles of computer programming, and<br />
software development.<br />
2. Expose students to fundamentals of<br />
business.<br />
3. Equip students with basic mathematical<br />
skills.<br />
Learning Outcomes<br />
Graduates in the Associate in Applied Science in<br />
Computer Science will acquire the following:<br />
1. Comfortable programming skills in modern<br />
programming languages.<br />
2. Basics of databases, and data<br />
communication.<br />
3. Basics of calculus, discrete structures, and<br />
statistics.<br />
4. Basic business principles in accounting,<br />
economics, and management.<br />

Students are required to take courses in Computer<br />
Science, Business Management, Accounting, and<br />
Economics for a total of 62 credits that include<br />
24 credits of LAC courses, 36 credits of major<br />
requirements, and 2 credits of free electives.<br />

COMPUTER SCIENCE<br />
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science<br />
at <strong>LAU</strong> provides a fundamental understanding<br />
of the theoretical principles of software and<br />
digital systems within the context of current<br />
technology. The program provides students<br />
with a strong background in the fundamentals<br />
of mathematics and computer science, and<br />
is balanced between theoretical and applied<br />
courses that prepare students for a professional<br />
career in the area of computer science.<br />
Furthermore, in addition to developing computer<br />
science skills, the program helps the students<br />
obtain an understanding of the human and<br />
social aspects of computer systems, and how<br />
computer science relates to other disciplines.<br />
