Mission<br />
The Liberal Arts Program provides an intellectual<br />
for a well-rounded, and comprehensive,<br />
education, designed for an increasingly<br />
technological and rapidly changing society. It<br />
helps students acquire the knowledge needed<br />
for their intellectual development, as well as to<br />
gain an understanding of the human condition,<br />
and to develop the skills, and the capacity, for<br />
continuous learning.<br />
Educational Objectives<br />
The purpose of the Associate in Arts in Liberal<br />
Arts is to:<br />
1. Cultivate knowledgeable and skilled<br />
individuals.<br />
2. Develop the character and integrity of the<br />
students.<br />
3. Prepare students for higher studies.<br />
4. Prepare students for the changing career<br />
needs.<br />
5. Develop the critical thinking, communication,<br />
and creativity skills, of students.<br />
Learning Outcomes<br />
Graduates in the Associate in Arts in Liberal<br />
Arts Program will be able to demonstrate the<br />
following:<br />
1. The ability to read, and interpret, texts from<br />
several disciplines.<br />
2. The ability to speak clearly, and to write<br />
correctly and persuasively.<br />
3. The ability to listen to others, and to be<br />
open to new ideas.<br />
4. Cultural diversity.<br />
5. The ability to think, write, and speak<br />
clearly, comparatively and analytically<br />
across disciplines.<br />
6. A knowledge base in a chosen field of study.<br />
Curriculum Requirements<br />
This Program is for students who seek a Bachelor<br />
of Arts (B.A.), or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.),<br />
Degree, by providing a basic mix of subjects at the<br />
Freshman and Sophomore levels. The Program<br />
also allows students to explore their interests,<br />
and abilities, before selecting a main course of<br />
study in the Liberal Arts.<br />
Students must complete 62 credits in this<br />
Program.<br />

ENGLISH<br />
The B.A. in English prepares students for a<br />
career in fields that demand clear writing and<br />
expression in fluent English, the presentation of<br />
logical arguments, and the critical evaluation of<br />
the opinions of others. Besides education, these<br />
fields include business, pre-law, communication,<br />
journalism, advertising, technical and creative<br />
writing, and translation. Students with diverse<br />
interests are welcome.<br />
