Clinical Relevance
Scientific rationale for the study:
Post-surgical graft exposition and
subsequent loss of grafted bone are
common complications of vertical
ridge augmentation and are attributed
to deficient soft tissue. We investigated
clinical and histological outcomes
and the feasibility of a
for vertical alveolar ridge augmentation and implant
augmentation and preceding STE
using self-filling osmotic tissue
Principal findings: Implantation of
tissue expanders was accompanied
by minimal complications. After tissue
expansion, primary closure at
vertical augmentation was easily
achieved without further tissue mobilization
comparatively high vertical
Practical implications: The combination
ridge augmentation may be
considered for implant treatment of
patients with severely resorbed edentulous
ridges.
