ALUMNI MEET 2012
The annual Alumni Meet was organized on 3 rd Nov'2012 at Royal
Orchid Resort, Yelahanka. The event provided yet another platform to
all our alumni to reminisce about old-times and connect. Excitement
and enthusiasm were visible all around. Many of alumni were seen
conversing animatedly with their friends, faculty and current batch
students. It was truly a family reunion and a joyous occasion!
The highlight of this year's alumni meet was the announcement of two
awards – Distinguished Alumnus Award and Young-Achiever
Alumnus Award. These awards were instituted to recognize and reward
the excellent, exemplary and extraordinary work of alumni in their
chosen fields of work, in a socially responsible way. The first award was
for alumni who graduated in the years 1997-2005 and the second one, for
those who graduated during 2006 and 2010. An in-house Committee
which acted as the jury carefully scrutinized the nominations and after
consideration of all aspects with regard to qualifying the criteria, chose,
Mr. Dayanidhi M.G (a graduate of 1997 batch), Managing Director –
Asia Pacific, Digital Chocolate Inc. and Mr. Rohan Shrivastava a
graduate of 2006 batch, presently Circle Business Manager – Business
Banking at Axis Bank respectively as the winners for the year 2012, for
the above two categories.
The event started with a welcome address by Dean Dr. M.Chandrasekhar
followed by classical dance performance by students. Prof.V.Narayanan
and Prof.Purnima Ramaswamy also addressed the august gathering.
Dr.Savitha Rani and Mr.Srikanth Payal gave a presentation on the
Institute and proposed future alumni activities. There was also an
informal interactive session with the Alumni in which they shared their
college memories and corporate experiences. Thanks to technology, we
could actually feel the presence of Mr. Gladwin Thomas (graduated in
1997) based in UK, , through a video message. The cultural program by
students was a mix of songs, dance performances and even games, that
brought smiles on every face and were cherished by everyone. The
function was followed by a gala dinner. All the Alumni were presented
with a memento. A team of enthusiastic student volunteers, faculty and
s t a f f m e m b e r s , M r. S o m s h e k a r ( P l a c e m e n t O f f i c e r ) a n d
Prof.MeghnaVerma (Faculty In-Charge Alumni) together made the event
a grand success.Everybody parted with a promise to meet again in 2013
and remain in touch with the Institute, through various activities.

PERCEPTION - 2012
National Level Management Fest 2012
6 th & 7 th NOV-12 was the propitious day for all the great contribution. The
Institute's premises was packed with lot of enthusiasm and spark to
welcome the participating teams from different institutes. The
PERCEPTIONS objective was to encourage aspiring managers, the
inaugural program went off with the same and was immersed with zest, due
to the inspiring talk through a motivating story by the Chief Guest Mr.
Amitasana Das Vice President, ISKCON. Sri. S.M. Acharya, Chief
Executive, GEF also graced the occasion. The event ended on 7 th Nov '12
with the speech from our Dean Dr. M Chandrashekhar along with the prize
distribution ceremony, which was followed by a Fashion Show organized
by the students of MSRMI/MSRMI as a part of valedictory function which
was a remarkable end for the fest.
There were several events in the basket of PERCEPTIONS guided by
faculty members and coordinated by student volunteers and coordinators,
'SARVOTTAM', where participants battled it out to be the best among all
& crowned as BEST MANAGER. 'PRACHHANA', the business quiz,
'VITTASHASTRA',the Finance event ,'VIVINIYA', an event to bring
together the cream contemporary talent of HR, 'VIPANKIKRIYA', a
challenging Marketing event, 'SANCHALAN', an event focused towards
testing the ability of Operations, 'KOSHAHARNAM', an exciting game in
which hidden treasure was the attraction, 'PAROCHAN'- an Ad Mad event
, a platform to show case the creativity of students.
PERCEPTIONS'12 young achievers national level management fest,
turned out to be a success under the guidance of Prof. Swati Basu Ghose and
faculty members and due to the rigorous efforts put in by student
coordinators working for several committees.

MASLOWISM
–An Intra College HR Fest
MASLOWISM (an intra-college HR fest) in true sense showcased the
talent of all the participants. 8 th October was indeed an eventful day for
the budding HR managers.
There was a huge response right from the time the fest was announced,
60 teams registered for the event. The Chief Guest , Mr. Surendra Nath
C.E.O & Principal Consultant of NULINE HR Consulting Bangalore,
gave an inspirational talk about roles and responsibilities of HR
managers. The event progressed further with MCQs (round 1) for sixty
teams, out of which twenty teams were shortlisted for creative round i.e.
poster making. Topics given were HR and GEN Y. Round 2 was judged
by a panel of senior faculty members. Ten shortlisted teams participated
in Extempore (round 3), followed by Quiz round; with lot of
enthusiasm. The Case Study round had Top 5 teams which was judged
by Ms. Swati Jadhav - Freelancer Trainer.
The top three teams were declared as winners and were awarded a cash
prize and a certificate by our Former Dean Dr. ChandraShekhar.
The event was spear headed by Prof. V. Padmaja supported by the
student committee members.

FRESHER'S PARTY
PGDM (Autonomous)
A little lilting music and the chink of ice, new faces, smiles all along,
resounding laughter- yes it is party time! Fresher's day is an event which
students look forward to; it helps to break the ice between the seniors and the
juniors. The seniors have put lot of efforts to make our day memorable, which
was evident as the party turned out to be successful and vivacious.
Everyone participated with great enthusiasm due to the encouragement given
by the seniors. The auditions started a week earlier for the events like singing,
dancing and most awaited 'Miss Fresher' and 'Mr. Fresher' contest. There were
rounds like self-introduction, stress round followed by talent round.
The show started with a welcome song by seniors followed with lighting of
lamp by Prof. Jayshree Kowtal and Prof. Amrita M A. The flow went with a
beautiful song by one of our Talented Senior and a dance performance which
was a real surprise & fun for us. Various events & games gave us a platform to
showcase our talents and time to mingle. The auditorium was full of joy and
high spirits.
Virendra Singh and Kriti Nagar were crowned the most awaited 'Mr.
Fresher 2012' & 'Ms. Fresher 2012'.The main motto was to strengthen the bond
with seniors. We are thankful to the seniors for organizing this event in spite of
their busy schedule.

STUDENTS' ACHIEVEMENTS
Meera Unnithan of PGDM (Autonomous- 2011-13), has stood third in the NHRD-
TRIADS competition and has won cash prize of Rs.7500/- and a memento for
Summer Internship Project titled: "A study of Employer Branding Strategies at
IBM, Bangalore.”
Roshan Balakrishnan & Samrudh N. of PGDM (Autonomous 2011-13), have
won second prize in the Business Quiz, in a Management Fest "QUEST 2012 "
organized by BMS College of Engineering , Bangalore on 3rd Nov 2012.
Roshan Balakrishnan and Arun Aswathapa of PGDM (Autonomous 2011-13),
have won second prize in National Level Business Quiz held at SRN Adarsh
College, Bangalore on19th Dec 2012.
Nikunj Singhal and Gourav Pandit of PGDM (Autonomous 2012-14, have
attended the National Conference which was held by Vignana Jyothi Institute Of
Management, Hyderabad. The theme of the national conference was "Leveraging
India's Competitiveness in a Globalized Economy: Issues and Perspectives
Globalized Economy: Issues and Perspectives" presented the paper on the “Foreign
Direct Investment and Indian Retail Sector: Aspects of Indian Economy”.
Abhilekh Choudhury and Meethun Kalal of (UoM 2012-14) made M S Ramaiah
Institutes of Management proud by fetching 5 th position in world leading Automobile Quiz
competition named as “ Mahindra Auto Quotient” in New Delhi, which was aired on NDTV
24x7 News channel on 15 th December. They also won a cash prize of Rs. 20,000/- along with
a on the spot job offer letter to work with this stalwart automobile company.

PINK – A RAY OF HOPE
Globally every year the month of October, is observed as “International Breast Cancer
Awareness Month.” On 4th November 2012 evening, thousands of torches with pink
lights went up around the scenic Ulsoor Lake, Bangalore.
A long human chain was formed around the lake with battery illuminated pink light,
signifying Ray of Hope in the fight against breast cancer. Healthcare Global (HCG)
Enterprises Ltd, the specialist in Cancer Care took the initiative to form the largest
human chain.
Hundreds of students, professors, working professionals from different
institutes participated in the event. Ms. Vandana, a member of Pink Hope
support group said, “Only way to defeat Breast Cancer is through spreading
awareness about it”.
With the initiative taken by Prof. Debolina Gupta, on the 4 th evening group
of approximately 270 students' from MSRIM/MSRMI joined hands
together in making this event a grand success.
This event would be recognized by Limca Book of Records. This
participation has made the institute proud.
This endeavor was supported by the M.S. Ramaiah Institute of Oncology
for the students' commutation and we are glad that our students' were able to
reach out to a large number of people and create awareness. The day ended
with scores of pink flying lanterns which lit the sky over the lake.

SAI KIRAN YEDIDA (BATCH- 2010-12)
Two years of my MBA life @ MSRIM were really memorable. I always see my
life till date into two parts i.e before MBA and after MBA. Yes, I need to agree
with this fact that the knowledge and experience which I gained through various
activities at M S Ramaiah Institutes of Management helped me in a great way to
start my career in the competitive world. Apart from studies I will always be
thankful to M S Ramaiah Institutes of Management for giving me lasting
friendships and many beautiful moments with them. Finally I want to thank the
faculty, supporting staff and specially Mr.Somshekar in placement department,
who gave me enormous support at every moment. Even the word “thanks” falls
short to express my happiness for that support.
