Mystery Behind BlackstVidisha Pandey, Shweta Mishra, PGDM (Auto.) 1 YearBlack Money is currently a highlightedissue because of the indefinite hungerstrike of yoga guru Baba Ramdev againstcorruption in black money after thegovernment failed in its last ditch effortto talk him out of the protest. BlackMoney is income earned surreptitiouslyor illegally, usually in cash ,and notreported to the government so as to avoidpaying taxes on it. Sources revealed that$1.4 trillion India's black money isdeposited in the Swiss Bank. Accordingto data provided by Swiss Bank, Indiahas more black money than rest of theworld combined. India tops the list withalmost $1500 billion black money inS w i s s B a n k f o l l o w e d b yRussia,U.K.,Ukraine,etc........and outside the country.During the interaction with the group ofprint media journalists, the P.M. said-"BLACK MONEY WAS A REALITYEVEN AS HE DOUBTED THE SIZEOF THE BLACK MONEY BEINGQUOTED". Various measures shouldbe taken to curb black money such as -methods to prevent generation of blackmoney should be worked out. Secondly, the black money that is kept overseasshould be brought back.Lokayukta Justice Santosh N Hedge said"if we can bring back black moneystacked in tax havens abroad and putthem in a bank in lieu of interest, we canhave budgets without fresh taxes ".In May this year, the governmentconstituted a committee headed by theCBDT Chairman for strenghtheningLegislation to curb the generation ofblack money. In March this year, thegovernment had signed agreements with3 leading think-tanks NCAER, NIFMand NIPFP to conduct study onunaccounted income generated insideIf black money is obtained from SwissBank it can boost both aggregate demandand aggregate supply. Money obtainedfrom Swiss Bank's thus would appear tobe a sound source of financingdevelopment expenditure.M S Ramaiah Institute of ManagementMail: sankalpa.editor@msrim.orgPh:‐ 080‐23608769/6909/8230, Fax 080‐23601974

INTERNET MARKETINGndKaran Rai, PRIST – 2 YearMarketing a single brand is a big challenge in acountry as diverse as India with various religionsand cultures, and where about 1600 dialects arespoken. Marketers must constantly customizeproducts to stay in business. For example, yahooInc. sensed a great demand for news in Hindi andtied up with the Jagran group for content. In lessthan a year, Hindi news was getting more hitsthan English news. As a result, yahoo was able toincrease the number of user than any of itscompetitors like “Google”.There is no doubt that internet is the easiest andthe fastest mode of communication whichspreads the word of mouth marketing and thecheapest platform for advertisement of brandthan promoting the brand through commercialadvertising, print media, and banner ads etc.Facebook, Twitter, myspace and linkedIn arethe social media network and blogger sites areBlogger, Wordpress and Typepad whichstrengthen the E-Commerce activities likeBusiness to Customer (B2C) ,Business toGovernment(B2G) and Business to Business(B2B). However, each of the different internetnetwork media has different role and approach.E.g, Facebook optimized the number of user tolike a particular brand with its unique service“Like Button” available in all the facebook pageswhich will reflect the brand equity of thecompany's image and on the other hand,LinkedIn's unique quality services had helped alot of M.N.Cs like Hewlett Packard (Hp) forrecommendation ads from professional toprofessional, making of company's page andmostly known for its in- mail service (viralmarketing) and Philips had also increased anumber of users and customers for its innovativehealthcare, lifestyle and lighting throughQuestion(Polls) and Custom Group in linkedIn.Video Marketing is one of the most significantforms of Internet Marketing and it is said byexperts, “video marketing will be the mostinfluential form of marketing Technique byconventional method behind. But now days dueto aggressive push in the competition it isadvisable to start adapting new methodology andtools for internet marketing. Some videoSyndication Sites are Youtube, Yahoo Video,Google video, Atom, Veoh and Viemo etc.Thescope of online marketing can be divided intotwo major parts:(a) Search engine optimization (SEO): It isthe process of improving the visibility of awebsite or a web page in search enginesvia the "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or"algorithmic") search results. In otherwords, it is helpful for listing thecompany's website in an ordinal fashion(RANKING ORDER).In India the SEO business is up coming andmajorly influencing the company'sinvolvement in E-Commerce and majorplayers are Goggle Search engine andYahoo search engine.(b) Social Media Optimizations (SMO): Itconsiders an integral part of an onlinereputation management (ORM) or SearchEngine Reputation Management (SERM)strategy for organizations or individualswho care about their online presence. However, in India it is a very new technique andthe roots are not strong enough to hold the SMOEmpire but in the span of last one year, thecompanies are involving in social mediaactivities and thus, optimistic result has beenachieved. As India is still in its developing phase but on theother side of the road the level of investment isalso comparatively increasing in different phasesof economic cycle from the new Indianentrepreneur's side because continuousinnovation and transformation has been the keygoal for them. India's growth on the internetspace has been very good, however relative tocountries.M S Ramaiah Institute of ManagementMail: sankalpa.editor@msrim.orgPh:‐ 080‐23608769/6909/8230, Fax 080‐23601974
