The organization works for all categories through Health care programs,<br />

Advocacy, livelihood support And formation of ESHG’s etc. Due to these<br />

activities beneficiaries are get benefit directly and their families are also<br />

getting benefit indirectly.<br />

Indirect beneficiary’s and community members were involved in new SaGP<br />

activities i.e. primary health care programs, awareness programs, counselling<br />

sessions, Cataract eye surgery with IOL implant.


Project Activities Carried out in the past 6 months.<br />

Healthcare<br />

The 3 project partner’s agencies from Haryana State organized weekly/fortnightly 72 Medical<br />

Consultations Camps during the second year of project. Through these Medical Consultation<br />

Camps total 700 patients benefited. Across the project area organized Free Eye Screening<br />

Camp and identified 10 elders for cataract operation and operated with the help of reputed<br />

eye care hospital.<br />

ESHG Formation<br />

During 2 nd year of SAGP Project partner’s agency are formed 11 new Elder Self Help Groups<br />

and 165 members (12-15 Elders Per ESHG) involved in formation of 11 groups. Currently 80%<br />

elders participating in the ESHGs meetings and 9 ESHG having their written rules &<br />

Regulations. Apart from the funds, 25 ESHGs have been saving Rs. 20- 100 per month per<br />

member. Over the last 2 years, the cumulative saving of 25 elders self help groups amounting<br />

over Rs. 105321. Groups members are getting benefits of inter loaning in their groups. Every<br />

month members meet in their groups meeting and share their experience and problems with<br />

each others.<br />

Commodity Support<br />

Two partner’s 4 grain banks or its similar alternates have opened at nearest the community of<br />

beneficiaries And they have known about this and get benefit through this facility. They are<br />

supporting the destitute grans under commodity support to destitute grans activity<br />

(community based grain bank.)<br />

Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods through Micro Credit and Micro Finance<br />

In this activity Nav Yuvak Kala sangam from Rohtak graded 4 ESHG and after getting prior<br />

permission from Ministry of Home Affair distributed seed capital to 4 old ESHGs. Other 2<br />

partner have sent the applications for this to MHA.<br />

Advocacy<br />

Under the Age Demand Action Programs all project partners organized activity on the various<br />

Govt. Schemes such as old age/ widow/ disabled pension, BPL card holders, NAREGA etc. After<br />

these activities 14 families applied for the BPL cards and total 45 No of Old Age Pension<br />

applied during the period in which 38 older people benefited with the old age pension<br />

scheme. 29 widow pensions applied and 9 women getting widow pension, 10 elders linked<br />

with the Annapurna Scheme All these activities were conducted with the help of Govt.<br />

Department. Recreation Pilgrimage tour were also organized by the all implementing agencies<br />

in which one implementing agency from Rohtak conduct a Exposure Visit with the help of<br />

State office to <strong>India</strong> International Tread Fair, Pragti Maidan for ESHG’s Groups Leader there,<br />

all are going to 4- Pavilions where they watch the livelihood Products produces by Self


Help Groups & interacting with them. Three sensitization programs were organized to<br />

inculcate the moral values among the community especially to the youth. Partner Agency<br />

Adarsh saraswati Shiksha Samiti Sonipat has been running District Yoga Wellness Centre,<br />

hence, the Yoga Instructor has also been visiting the centre for Yoga activities so as to make<br />

the older people and the community as a whole Health conscious.<br />

Training of ESHG on Disaster Risk Reduction: - A training program worganised for Elders Self<br />

Help Groups members on DRR by the State office at Sir Chotu ram Dharamshala Rohtak,<br />

Haryana on 16 Jan to 17 Jan 2012. In which ESHG office bearer from Sonipat & Rohtak and<br />

volunteer were got training.<br />

Changes are a part of life. According to the time changes are possible Like up and downs and<br />

its effects to the life styles. SAGP is a unique concept for the older category. In the starting of<br />

SAGP, we face a lot of problems in the community to stop the direct help and face them with<br />

indirect help and investment concept.<br />

Improvements are come next after done some best. People have accepted this New SAGP<br />

concept. Overall the Sponsor a Grant Program has introduced a positive change in the overall<br />

scenario of the elderly in the project locations due to the multifarious act ivies/services under<br />

the project all of which have helped the elders slowly come up in the village scenario.<br />

All project partners will perform all the activities as given in the sponsor a Grant Parent - New<br />

Phase Project.
