NEW STAFF SPOTLIGHT Meet Dina Zempsky, New Director of Case Management Program for Seniors Dina Zempsky D ina Zempsky, LCSW recently joined Lenox Hill Neighborhood House as our new Director of Case Management. Our Case Management program works with more than 1,400 frail and often homebound seniors living from 14th to 143rd Streets on the East Side of Manhattan. Dina is a graduate of Syracuse University and Columbia School of Social Work and comes to us with extensive and varied experience in social work and aging. Most recently, Dina worked as the Director of Caregiver Services at Heights and Hills in Brooklyn. Dina previously was the Program Manager at StoryCorps, where she worked on their Memory Loss Initiative, and was a geriatric care manager doing individual psychotherapy for older adults. From 1996 to 2000, Dina was the Director of the Partnership for Eldercare at the New York City Department for the Aging. We are delighted to have her on board! Executive Chef Lynn Loflin Joins the Neighborhood House We are thrilled to announce that Lynn Loflin has been named the organization’s inaugural Executive Chef. Lynn will lead our Healthy Foods and Wellness programming and our terrific Food Services team, which provides more than 400,000 healthy and delicious meals a year to our clients, young and old. Lynn comes to the Neighborhood House with an extensive and varied background in the culinary arts, having worked most recently as a Chef Instructor at the Lynn Loflin Children’s Aid Society and Program Manager at Our Growing Place, a “seed to table” organic gardening, cooking and nutrition program for children living in public housing developments. Lynn currently owns and operates Newton Farm in the Catskills, which has a small Community Supported Agriculture program, provides organic produce to New York City restaurants and provides food justice and gardening education at the Dekalb Market in Brooklyn. Lynn also worked for nearly 20 years as the owner and operational manager of the Miracle Grill, a popular Southwestern restaurant with two Manhattan locations. One of Lynn’s first initiatives at the Neighborhood House was to help launch the new Center @ Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, our 365-day-a-year Innovative Senior Center, with a fabulous New Year’s Day party. AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD Sesame Workshop Features Early Childhood Center in New Oral Health Outreach Program Our Early Childhood Center is featured in an upcoming live action film for Sesame Street’s multimedia, bilingual oral health initiative called ‘Healthy Teeth, Healthy Me,’ funded by Sam’s Club Giving Program and MetLife Foundation. Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, works in over 150 countries to help children reach their highest potential. The initiative launched on March 1st. Sesame Workshop is also providing our Early Childhood Center with ‘Healthy Teeth, Healthy Me’ outreach kits to distribute to our children and families.
