Mission: East Cooper Meals on Wheels is an
organization whose primary mission is to deliver daily
nutrition to residents within our service area who are
homebound or unable to provide their own meals. We
also advocate on behalf of recipients whose needs
exceed the scope of our programs.

Volunteer Opportunities: Packers - package meals for
delivery drivers - pick up and deliver meals;
administrative support - general office work; event
support - various duties.
Training: Training for packing is required. Training for
meal delivery is required and consists of actually
driving the route with a trainer. Drivers must be able
to commit to at least 2 hours per week. Packers must
be able to commit at least 1 hour a week.
Minimum Age: 18 for packers; 21 for drivers.
Requirements: SLED background Checks, valid Driver's
License, and valid auto insurance.
Wish List: Low Salt/Low Sugar shelf stable food,
Ensure/Glucerna nutritional drinks.

Volunteer Opportunities: Interpret history of
Middleton Place in the Gardens, House Museum and
Stableyards as a guide to the public. Provide
information to guests about the natural history of the
National Historic Landmark property and the history of
the Middleton family and the enslaved Africans who
inhabitied it. Volunteers may also conduct guided
house tours at Edmondston-Alston House in
downtown Charleston.
Training: Training classes and information packets are
provided for all opportunities.

Volunteer Opportunities: Assist clothing team (sort,
hang up, take down); assist food packers (during
pantry operation's hours). Offer ESL classes for
members of large Hispanic community, and literacy
classes for teens/adults who need to read better. Help
with general facility repairs and special projects.
Training: Volunteers would be assigned to work with
teams who would "shadow" them. ESL and literacy
classes would require training that would be provided.
Minimum Age: 15; anyone under 18 must have
parental permission.
Requirements: All volunteers 18 and older who may
work with minors must complete an application with
references and a criminal background is performed.
Wish List: Clothing, shoes, linens (bed/bath) all clean
and in good repair. Non perishable foods and
personal care products. Plastic grocery bags, clip-type
clothes hangers.
