BUSINESS ITEMS PRESENTED TO <strong>BOARD</strong> FOR INFORMATION ONLY<br />
Specialized Instruction Programs<br />
An overview was given to Board Members the Specialized Programs that are currently being offered<br />
at the high schools. The programs presented were the International Baccalaureate Program,<br />
AVID, Early College High School, and Tar River Academy.<br />
Parent District Initiative<br />
Ms. Trevor Lane, Counselor at Englewood Elementary School, and parent, Ms. Stacy Harris spoke to the<br />
Board Members about the Parent District Initiative. This is a program that offers two-way<br />
communication between schools and parents, creates a welcoming environment, engages diverse families<br />
as well as build upon parent skills and leadership.<br />
Power<strong>Schools</strong>/Home Base Implementation<br />
Board Members were given a presentation of the PowerSchool Implementation . PowerSchool will<br />
replace the current NCWISE student information system. One of the features of PowerSchool includes more<br />
flexibility for parents to view student data via Internet.<br />

donation from Wiggins Design &<br />
Fabrication to be used to support PBIS,<br />
and Harrison Family YMCA donated a<br />
basketball goal to the Physical Education<br />
department at Hubbard.<br />
