DYMAX ® 910, 911 & 912
ADHESIVES FOR WIRE & PARTS TACKING
INTRODUCTION
Dymax UV curing tacking adhesives have been formulated to cure rapidly under longwave (365 nm) UV light at intensities above
20 mW/cm 2 . Dymax 910, 911 and 912 have been designed for wire and parts tacking on printed circuit boards. Dymax UV
curing adhesives can also be used for a wide variety of strain relief and wire unitization applications. These products withstand
thermal shock from soldering while resisting brief solvent and aqueous washes. Dymax wire tacking adhesives are thixotropic
and designed for easy dispensing, yet they resist migration on the part.
DESCRIPTIONS
Light Weld 910 is typically used as a flexible wire and parts tacking adhesive. While possessing high adhesion to boards and
electronic parts, a tack can be mechanically removed. Heating the tack to 200°F or more facilitates removal.
Multi-Cure 911 is specially designed to provide rapid, structural wire tacking of PCB’s. Cure occurs with UV light or in
combination with heat. Multi-Cure 911 has excellent adhesion to wide variety of surfaces.
Light Weld 912 has been formulated to cure rapidly under longwave UV light. Product 912 is designed for wire tacks on PCB’s,
withstands thermal shock from solder while resisting most solvent and aqueous washes.
Product Data Sheet
DYMAX 910, 911, 912, 3/99
Activator Cure - Multi-Cure 911 Only
Fixture
15-30 Seconds
5 Minutes 250 psi
10 Minutes 500 psi
1 Hour 1,600 psi
24 Hours 2,900 psi
On Part Life of Activator: Activator will lose potency after eight hours. Activator must be kept in closed metal containers when
not in use. Exposure to oxygen will increase fixture time.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Apply Activator over one of the surfaces to be bonded. Allow for the solvent to evaporate, if needed. Surface will have an
oily appearance.
2. Apply only a single drop of bead of adhesive to the center of the mating surface. DO NOT SPREAD OVER THE BOND
SURFACE.
3. Assemble parts and clamp or hold immobilized until fixture occurs (30-60 seconds). DO NOT stress bonds until sufficient
strength has been achieved. (This may be up to several minutes depending on requirements).
NOTE: Adhesive will not cure unless thoroughly mixed with Activator. If wet/tacky adhesive is present outside of joint, it can
be cured with heat or cleaned away with recommended solvents.
DISPENSING AND HANDLING ADHESIVE
Dymax 910, 911, and 912 is available in various packages such as syringes, cartridges, bottles, and pails. It may be dispensed
with a variety of automatic bench-top syringe applicators or other equipment as required. Direct questions relating to dispensing
and curing systems for specific applications to Dymax Technical Representatives.
Wear impervious gloves and/or barrier cream. Repeated or continuous skin contact with liquid adhesive will cause irritation and
should be avoided. Do not wear absorbent gloves. Remove adhesive from skin with soap and water. Never use solvents to
remove adhesive from skin or eyes.
STORAGE AND SHELF LIFE
Store material in cool dark place when not in use. Do not expose to UV light or sunlight. Material may polymerize upon
prolonged exposure to ambient light. Replace lid immediately after use. Product has a one-year shelf life when stored below
90°F in the original, unopened container. Refrigerated storage extends shelf life.
CAUTION
For industrial use only. Avoid breathing vapors. Avoid contact with eyes and clothing. In case of contact, immediately flush with
water for at least 15 minutes; get medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse. Keep out of reach of children. Do not take
internally. If swallowed, induce vomiting at once and call a physician. Repeated or continuous skin contact with liquid adhesive
will cause irritation and should be avoided. For specific information, refer to the product Material Safety Data Sheet.
