CAL. PENAL CODE § 290.009 (West 2010)<br />

Any person required to register under the Act who is enrolled as a student or is an employee or carries on a<br />

vocation, with or without compensation, at an institution <strong>of</strong> higher learning in this state, shall register pursuant to<br />

the provisions <strong>of</strong> the Act.<br />

CAL. PENAL CODE § 290.95 (West 2010)<br />

(a) Every person required to register who applied for or accepts a position where the registrant would be working<br />

directly and in an unaccompanied setting with minor children must disclose his or her status as a registrant upon<br />

application or acceptance <strong>of</strong> a position.<br />

(b) Every person required to register who applies for or accepts a position as an employee or volunteer where the<br />

applicant would be working directly and in an accompanied setting with minor children, and the applicant’s work<br />

would require him or her to touch the minor children shall disclose his or her status as a registrant upon application<br />

or acceptance <strong>of</strong> the position.<br />

(c) No registrant who has been convicted <strong>of</strong> a crime against a victim under the age <strong>of</strong> 16 may work in a position<br />

where the registrant would have direct and unaccompanied access to minor children or have supervision or<br />

disciplinary power over minor children.<br />

CAL. PENAL CODE § 3003.5(b) (West 2010)<br />

Notwithstanding any other provision <strong>of</strong> law, it is unlawful for any person for whom registration is required pursuant<br />

to Section 290 to reside within 2000 feet <strong>of</strong> any public or private school or park where children regularly gather.<br />

** Denotes those states where sex <strong>of</strong>fender registration is required for convictions under the staff sexual misconduct laws <strong>of</strong> the states. Staff and<br />

inmates could also be required to register as sex <strong>of</strong>fenders if the <strong>of</strong>fense were charged under other registrable <strong>of</strong>fenses.<br />
