An OSAA policy is in place that can
impact a high school student who attend
a camp in a school district other
than his own. Simply put, if you are
not a Junction City School District
student, have started high school and
attend our camp, then transfer to
Junction City High School you could
be ineligible to compete in athletics
for one year.
This will be our 29th year of operating a
camp at Junction City; the camp will be operated
and staffed by individuals who have
a wide variety of camp and coaching experience.
The camp is directed by Craig
Rothenberger, head basketball coach at
JCHS. Other coaches from other levels will
also assist at the camp. Our staffing is designed
to keep a one coach to eight athlete
ratio.
This camp emphasizes:
Fundamental Development: Four hours
each day will be spent on the general and
position specific fundamentals.
Game Experience: Each boy will play in
12 games during the course of the week.
Game experience is essential to development
in basketball.
Development of a Positive Attitude
and Consistent Work Ethics: We will
emphasize the importance of being a good
learner and how that relates to becoming a
complete player. We work with each athlete
to evaluate and improve his work ethic
and skill development. The camp will be
divided into two ability divisions, which will
offer the opportunity for athletes to experience
success and make improvement.
The camp will supply: Balls and a T-
shirt. Please do not bring your own ball.
The participants need to supply:
Transportation, gym clothes, shoes & lunch.
