<strong>8th</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> on Fast Field Cycling NMR Relaxometry
We are very pleased to welcome you to Turin from May 23 to 25, 2013. The 8 th <strong>Conference</strong> on Fast Field Cycling NMR Relaxometry will be a good occasion for exchanging new ideas <strong>and</strong> presenting numerous <strong>and</strong> varied applications in a very open field of interest. As in the past, this 8 th conference is gathering people with active interests in nuclear <strong>and</strong> electron spin relaxation, fast magnetic field switching experiments, low field magnetic resonance, nuclear quadrupole resonance <strong>and</strong> magnetic resonance imaging. The discussion will focus on nuclear magnetic field cycling experimental techniques, data interpretation <strong>and</strong> theory, as well as applications performed by other low-frequency <strong>and</strong> time-domain <strong>and</strong> low resolution NMR techniques. Topics range from experimental issues, interpretative foundations <strong>and</strong> applications in a variety of materials including but not restricted to solids, porous <strong>and</strong> heterogeneous systems, polymers, liquid crystals, biological <strong>and</strong> diagnostics. The First symposium on Field Cycling NMR Relaxometry was held in Berlin 1998, with the purpose of bringing together all the researchers practicing FC methods with those who do not yet but are interested in applying this technique in the future, forming a discussion forum promoting <strong>and</strong> cultivating the description of molecular motions in complex system by spectral densities in relation to recent condensed matter theories <strong>and</strong> dissemination of the information on the technique as well as the potential of its applications <strong>and</strong> it proved to be a big success. http://www.ffcrelax.com/ffcrelax/mainpage.php?folder=history&page=index.php The following conferences, held in Torino in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009 <strong>and</strong> 2011 were aimed at strengthening the interaction between FC users from different scientific areas, stimulating the exchange of new ideas <strong>and</strong> technical features. In 2009, the 6 th symposium was particularly special in keeping with these objectives <strong>and</strong> the First Summer School on Field Cycling NMR Relaxometry was held in Mede (PV) - Italy in June 2009. This NMR School was intended to be a comprehensive introduction to NMR Field Cycling <strong>and</strong> NMR Relaxometry with the aim of enabling researchers of any scientific discipline to be able to apply the exceptional capacity of field cycling technology in their work. http://www.ffcrelax.com/schoolNMR/home.php As in the past, the meeting will provide a most opportune setting for discussion by scientists from a broad range of disciplinary <strong>and</strong> geographic origins. Chemists, physicists <strong>and</strong> engineers will exchange ideas while incubating the seeds for the future development of the technique <strong>and</strong> its applications. The meeting has turned out to be a unique forum for the discussion of newly emerging <strong>and</strong> traditional methods while empowering innovative developments to ever more complex <strong>and</strong> challenging applications. The conference will focus on the most recent developments, with sessions devoted to some of the most exciting <strong>and</strong> topical aspects of the technique by world leaders in the respective disciplines. It will provide unique opportunities for young graduate students <strong>and</strong> postdocs to discussion their research with leaders in the field. We hope that all attendees of the 8 th <strong>Conference</strong> on Fast Field Cycling NMR Relaxometry enjoy the sessions, <strong>and</strong> that much fruitful cross-relaxation will occur among the many disciplines represented at the meeting.
