Abstract<br />

Multi-dynamics study of crude oils<br />

We propose using a set of n<strong>on</strong>-invasive multiscale NMR techniques for probing the structure<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> dynamics of bulk <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>fined crude oils with <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> without asphaltene. High field NMR<br />

spectroscopy identifies the prot<strong>on</strong> species. 2D NMR DOSY spectra for bulk crude oils in presence<br />

or absence of asphaltene favor an interpretati<strong>on</strong> of two populati<strong>on</strong>s of hydrocarb<strong>on</strong> aliphatic<br />

chains in two envir<strong>on</strong>ments. In the presence of asphaltene, an analysis of the distributi<strong>on</strong>s of<br />

l<strong>on</strong>gitudinal relaxati<strong>on</strong> time, T 1 , in terms of a bimodal log-normal distributi<strong>on</strong>, c<strong>on</strong>firms the two<br />

envir<strong>on</strong>ments clearly evidenced by varying the Larmor frequency. The remarkable features of the<br />

nuclear magnetic relaxati<strong>on</strong> dispersi<strong>on</strong> (NMRD) of for bulk <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>fined crude oils with<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> without asphaltene have been interpreted with an original model of intermittent surface<br />

dynamics of prot<strong>on</strong> species at the surface of asphaltene nanoaggregates <str<strong>on</strong>g>and</str<strong>on</strong>g> bulk dynamics in<br />

between the clusters of these nanoaggregates.<br />
