Bulldogs Devour the Competition

heir stretching was done.
Their minds were focused.
They had said all their lastminute
prayers. The stage was set
for battle.
At one end of the 50-foot rope stood
the members of homeroom 4A, ready
to ride their “A-Train” to victory. The
fierce “Bulldogs” of homeroom 4B
stared them down from the other end
of the rope, waiting to release their
canine instincts on anyone who
stood in their way.
Both homerooms fought fiercely that
night, securing spots for themselves in the
championship match. Sure, their legs
were cramped, their backs ached, and

their callused hands had already suffered
from some bad cases of rope
burn, but their desire to win remained
firm.
When the signal was given, both
squads picked up the rope and set
their feet on the floor, ready to fight
for the honor of victory. The shriek
of the whistle sounded, and the time
had come to see what these
homerooms were really made of.
After an intense struggle of legchurning,
heart-throbbing action, the
A-Trainers found themselves defeated,
pulled across the line by the savage
Bulldogs, who rightfully claimed the
title of Senior Night Champions.
The tug-of-war competition was only
one part of Senior Night, which is held
annually for seniors as they begin their
last year of high school. At 6:00 p.m. on
Friday, September 14, the cafeteria began
to fill with over 250 seniors, all talking
about what the evening would have in
store for them.
The night began as any would at
Chaminade – with some delicious food.
Featured for the evening was
Chaminade’s famous pasta, along with
rolls, cookies, and soda.
Following dinner, the group of seniors
performed a Senior Night first. Instead of
completing the rest of the night in the
House of Noise, they walked over to the
newly completed Activity-Athletic Center.
Once there, the seniors gathered on the
bleachers for a group photo. Afterwards,
they sat down and watched a video of
highlights from the 3-C Week of their freshman
year. Amazed at how young they
looked, the Class of 2008 watched and
laughed at all of the memories from their
earliest days at Chaminade.
