TRAUMACAD 2.4 SERVER PREREQUISITES – WINDOWS 2008
Before you begin the software installation, please verify that all prerequisite are installed and
that the minimum hardware requirements are met, as described below.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
• One or more processors with a recommended minimum speed 2.4 GHz and 8M Cache
• 4 GB RAM
• Hard Drive (we recommend 2 virtual drives to separate OS and application files):
o Up to 20 GB for the software and logs
o Up to 4 GB for digital templates
• Internet connection details are specified below (Table 1) and are recommended for the
installation, user’s documentation download and ongoing server updates
TraumaCad Server installation is supported inside a virtualized environment as long as
the Virtual machine meets the above requirements
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
• Windows 2008 Server R2 standard / Enterprise edition (English should be the default OS language ;
additional languages can co-exist)
• Server naming convention: server NAME must NOT contain an _ (underscore) symbol
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909264)
• MS Internet Information Services (IIS)
• MS Windows Update – Recommended to install all critical updates
• Microsoft ASP.NET
• Microsoft .NET Framework V3.5 SP1*
• IE 8 (or above)
• Abode Reader
• RDP / VNC - recommended for installation and ongoing support
• Operating system installation CD files (to be copied to the server’s local hard-drive – I386
directory is mandatory)
• Make sure IT opens FULL access to http://timestamp.verisign.com in the Firewall (for client
online signature)

OPERATING SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
Minimum requirement is 32 Bit Operating System. 64 Bit Operating System is highly recommended
due to better memory handling.
To install TraumaCad, you must be logged-on as a user with administrative privileges.
Before installing TraumaCad server – Make sure IIS7 is installed using the below steps:
o
Launch the Server Manager (Start -> Control Panel -> Turn Windows features off (under the
Programs link)
o
Scroll the server manager down and click on the +Add Roles link
o
o
In the Roles wizard, click Next in the first page (“Before you Begin” page)
Check the Web Server (IIS) checkbox and click next

In the Web Server wizard click Next on the “introduction to web server” page
In the Role Services page, check the ASP.NET component (under the Application development
menu)

Click on the “Add Required Role Services” button to add all the required tools for IIS to run with
ASP.NET
o
In the Role Services page - Scroll down and check the “Windows Authentication” under Security
o
o
Click Next to move forward
Confirm by clicking on the “Install” button in the “Confirmation page”
o
Allow the system 3-10 minutes to complete the installation and click on the Close button once finished
Close all windows on the server and continue to configure IIS to support TraumaCad server
installation
o Adjusting File Size Limit in IIS 7
The problem is that in IIS 7 on Windows 2008 Server, the web application will reject any file that
is larger than 30 MB and since TraumaCad can handle CR \ DX images that can vary between
5MB-75MB we need to increase the file size limitation.
To increase file size limit to 100MB open command line console and run:

Where TraumaCadServer is a web site created for TraumaCad. You can use “Default Web Site” if
TraumaCad was installed on the default web site.
o
Change Application pool pipeline mode
By default – each application pool pipline mode in IIS is set to “Integrated”. In TraumaCad – this
should be converted to “Classic” for the application to run
o On the taskbar, click Start, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Internet Information
Services (IIS) Manager.
o In the Connections pane, expand Sites, and then navigate to the application you want to edit
o In the Actions pane, click Advanced Settings...
o Change the Pipeline mode to Classic
o Click on Save
o Restart IIS

PRE-INSTALLATION PACS CONFIGURATION
• Please define TraumaCad as a DICOM node in your PACS system and supply the details (as
configured) to TraumaCad support and implementation engineer.
• Details to be configured include:
- IP address (of TraumaCad server)
- AE title of TraumaCad
• If the TraumaCad server application should run on SSL – please install the SSL certificate prior to
TraumaCad server installation – make sure the certificate meets the server’s FQDN
