Hello everyone. Christmas is rapidly
approaching – it seems that this year has just
flown by. Hopefully there will be some decent
rainfall over Christmas & New Year and that
the temperature will stay down. It has been a
busy time since the last newsletter.
I would like to thank the club for awarding me
the Kym Bramley perpetual trophy for 2012. I
didn’t get to know Kym until the time around
her death. I very quickly came to know her as
she met death head on with dignity, courage,
grace and good humour.
Vicki Robertson clinic
Vicki ran her second clinic on the 7 th and 8 th
December. We had good numbers for both days.
Vicki’s clinic on Friday night went until well into
the evening and then she was back bright and sparky
the next day – so a huge effort by Vicki. It was
amazing to watch how quickly Vicki adapted to the
needs of each individual horse and rider
combination. Here is some feedback from one of
our members, Kathleen Oldman, about her lessons
with Vicki.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first lesson with Vicki. Even though I
am a complete beginner and my horse doesn’t know much
either, Vicki was supportive and informative. She helped me
make real progress during the lesson and gave me lots of tips
to take away and practice. I was feeling a bit nervous
beforehand, but Vicki’s relaxed approach helped me relax too.
I had great fun. Thanks to the club for the opportunity to have
this lesson. I’ll be back for more. Kathleen Oldman.
December’s members day.
Once again, Sarah and Mel ran another successful
members day. There were some new members
riding which was great to see. By all reports, it did
get a bit warm (understatement I think) toward the
end but not hot enough to put horse or rider at any
risk. Thank you to Mel Widdis for coming along
and judging – perhaps the worst place to be on a hot
day is sitting in a car! Thank you to those members
who pencilled or helped with running the day by
collecting tests and adding up scores.

Annual awards night and Christmas
party
Thank you once again to Robyn Walsh for
hosting the awards night and Christmas party
at her home. It is a great venue, with the bonus
being that Butch had managed to get council to
grade the road prior to the event (just for us I
am sure!).

We are also looking at possibility of running a young
horse competition on the Saturday afternoon before the
competition. Please let me know if you would be
interested in competing in a young horse class.

Hello all.
First off, thank you to everyone for your contribution to
another great year for the Upper Hunter Dressage
Association. If you recall, this time last year we were
coping with the fall-out from the fire in our club house.
Our end of year awards night and Christmas party was
another big success. Thank you to Robyn Walsh for once
again being the host and opening up her lovely home to
the Club. We had a great roll-up of members (and
partners) and from the noise level – a lot of good
conversation was taking place. The results are
elsewhere in the newsletter. I would like to
congratulate all the champions and reserve champions
at the various levels in both the member’s day point
score and the official competition results. It is great to
see so many members progressing with their horses and
I am sure the standard of competition will continue to
improve. We didn’t have any members compete at
Advance level this year – so there is an opening for a
member looking to move onwards and upwards.
Vicki held the last of her clinics on the 7 th and 8 th
December. From the feedback that I have received, the
clinic has certainly been well worth it. We will look to
offer other clinics in 2013. My thanks to Vicki who
taught on both days for lengthy periods. Thank you to
Julee and Kim who organised the clinic.
Our first competition for 2013 is 24 th February, which
will come around quickly. We will be needing members
to put their hand up to help organise the day and assist
