The Ardagh Chalice<br />

1)iscovered 100 ,cars ago (Sept., 1868)<br />

by a young farmer while digging potatoes<br />

in it rath at Reerasta, near <strong>the</strong> village of Ardagh, Co. Limerick.<br />

Date early 8th century A.D. Silver. 7" high.<br />

"The chalice is beyond question one of <strong>the</strong> masterpieces of its time."*<br />
