I am having a good deal of fun here reading all the articles and reports of the
summer’s events. (Sorry, I didn’t mean to use the word “summer.” Monsoon, perhaps.)
I enjoyed the Convention Week, but hands-up those who needed a week afterwards
to recuperate! My word, there was a lot going on. I wish I could have attended
everything, but even though I was part of the organising committee I
couldn’t quite manage it, so the reports that are coming in are filling the gaps
nicely. I will share them between the Magazine and the commemorative book
‘Fell Diamonds: A celebration of 90 years of the Fell Pony Society.’ You will get
tasters of the week here and the full reports will be in the book, so look for it at
the Spring AGM 2013.
In the meantime there is the ‘Fell Diamonds’ writing competition to get your
teeth into. Full rules and entry details are on the FPS web site and in the Magazine
section on the Convention Week. Please note the deadline—30th November—
and do advertise the fact to friends that we are giving quite worthwhile prize
money and entry is open to all. Entry is cheaper for FPS members and free to FPS
juniors. (Hint—juniors who enter are quite likely to get a prize, at the moment!)
I hope to see you at the Autumn meeting. The deadline for the Spring Magazine
2013 is, as always, 1st February.
Best wishes
Letters to the Editor
Hi, I just wanted to share with you and the Society our wonderful news. I
qualified my Fell pony Townend Revel (Castlehill Bellman x Townend Truffle II)
for the Horse of the Year Show ridden, at Lincolnshire Show. Absolutely overjoyed
especially as this is my first ever HOYS ticket. We bought Revel from Bev Hodgson
(Inglegarth) as a yearling after she had bought him from the Townend Stud to
keep one of her youngsters company. He is now rising 7 and a real sweety doing
showing with myself and general hacking/playing with my Mum, he really looks
after her! We have just started jumping and hunting this year too. Both myself
and my Mum were over the moon at winning at Lincolnshire Show and are really
looking forward to going to HOYS for the first time.
Thanks
Cher Cartwright
