MANAGER’S NEWS
By the time you read this column, we will
be heading into the month of May and left
wondering what happened to the first half of
the year! It feels like only yesterday that I was
wishing you a prosperous 2015 and here we
are, 5 months later. How time has flown. We
have so much happening in the life of Fairmont
at the moment and I am so glad that I get to
share this with you all.
We are pleased to welcome our Acting Food
and Beverage Director, Anna Derygo, to our
Fairmont Zimbali Family. Anna joins us from
one of our flagship properties in the Middle
East, Fairmont the Palm, in Dubai, UAE.
Anna started her hospitality career with
Fairmont at Chateau Lake Louise, Canada, in
2003 and completed her 2 SWEP (Student
Work Experience Program) terms in various
F&B departments. In 2005, Anna transferred
to a sister property in the Canadian Rockies
and worked at Fairmont Banff Springs, for
7 years holding various F&B positions from
Shift Leader to Outlets Manager. In 2011,
Anna moved to Fairmont Grand Hotel Kyiv in
the Ukraine and was part of the pre-opening
team holding the position of Assistant Director
of F&B. Shortly after a successful opening,
Anna was eager to do another opening, and
joined another pre-opening team at Fairmont &
Raffles Makati, Manila, Philippines as Assistant
Director of F&B before joining Fairmont the
Palm in Dubai.
We wish Anna every success in her new
role and look forward to working with such
an enthusiastic and energetic Fairmont
Ambassador.
This month we are celebrating Mother’s Day
with a bang as we launch our new Fashion High
Tea event in Dalchini Lounge. This monthly
event is set to launch on the 9th and 10th of
May from 12:00 until 18:00 and will showcase
local designers from KZN, starting with local
jewelry designer, Akshar Choudree. The cost
will be R215 per person which includes a
complimentary glass of bubbly. We will also
be hosting a Mother’s Day buffet lunch in Coral
Tree on the 10th of May at a cost of R300 per
person which will be served from 12:30 until
