INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT GLOBAL TEST STANDARDS
Cat Footwear manufactures premium, safety footwear symbolizing Caterpillar’s 100-year connection to tough, honest work. Our safety
footwear collection includes a variety of comfort, durability, safety and technology features intended to keep workers protected and
comfortable in the harshest of conditions.
ASTM
Our safety footwear is tested to meet and exceed strict ASTM 2413-05 and ASTM F 2412-05 testing methods and performance standards
for ‘Personal Protective Footwear’ sold in the United States. All ASTM 2413-05 certified footwear must provide impact and compression
resistance; our safety footwear is rated I/75, C75 – the highest available strength for impact and compression. Additional protection may be
provided within the footwear as noted below.
Advance Alloy Safety Toe
Cat ® footwear with Advance Alloy Safety Toes are rated ASTM F2413-05 EH
and are 50% lighter than traditional steel toe footwear while still protecting toes
from impact and compression.
Composite Safety Toe
Cat ® footwear with Composite Safety Toes are rated ASTM F2413-05 and are
non-metallic and undetectable in electronic security environments.
Electrical Hazard
Cat ® Electrical Hazard footwear is rated ASTM F2413-05 1/75 EH.
Special EH construction protects the wearer against open circuits up to 14,000
volts in dry conditions.
Electro Static Dissipating
Cat ® footwear Electro Static Dissipating boots and shoes are rated ESD Type 1
to protect you from the hazards of static buildup in the workplace.
Note: Do not use static dissipating footwear where conductive or electrical hazard features are required.
Insulated
Our Insulated footwear features a patented thermal technology that insulates
against the cold, keeping your foot warm and comfortable while tackling
extreme conditions. Available in 200g and 400g.
Metatarsal Guard
Cat ® footwear with a Metatarsal Guard protects the foot from impact and
compression while resisting chemicals and heat.
Slip Resistant
Cat ® footwear with Slip Resistant soles reduces the risk of slips and falls—the
hazard of low traction surfaces.
Static Dissipating
Shoes labeled SD meet or exceed the ASTM F2413-05 standard for Static Dissipative
Type 1 footwear. These shoes are designed to minimize the buildup of static electricity
while maintaining high enough resistance to help protect against live electrical circuits.
Steel Toe
Cat ® Steel Toe boots are rated ASTM F2413-05 I/75 C/75—the highest
available strength for impact and compression.
TechniFlex ®
TechniFlex ® provides superior comfort in a traditional welted work boot by
allowing the boot to bend and flex in key areas of the foot and by significantly
reducing the weight traditionally associated with welted footwear.
Waterproof
Cat ® Waterproof footwear keeps the wet out with waterproof leathers and using
seam sealing or waterproof liners.
Extended Wear Compound
Cat ® footwear outsoles, reinforced with our Extended Wear Compound, wear
longer for performance in extreme environments.
Puncture Resistant
Cat ® Puncture Resistant footwear meets ASTM F2413-05 PR standards with a
steel mid-plate designed to prevent objects from puncturing the sole.
CSA
Our safety footwear is tested to meet and exceed strict CAN/CSA Z195-02 testing methods and performance footwear standards for
‘Protective Footwear’ sold in Canada. All CSA footwear must have fitted protective toecaps, with the exception of conductive and static
dissipative footwear. The protective toecap must be made of a material that meets the requirements for impact resistance and must meet
Grade 1 (Toe Impact of 125 Joules @.56 Meters) and Grade 2 (Toe Impact of 90 Joules @ .40 Meters) testing.
EN
Our safety footwear is tested to meet and exceed strict EU standards from authorized testing facilities such as SATRA and receives
certification in one of the following categories:
EN ISO 20345:2004 Safety Footwear Classification
Footwear conforms to EN ISO 20345:2011 where applicable
SB Footwear includes an internal steel toecap tested to 200-joule compression
S1 Footwear includes an internal steel toecap tested to 200-joule compression and anti-static properties of electrical resistance no
greater than 100k Mega ohms
S1P Footwear includes an internal steel toecap tested to 200-joule compression and anti-static properties of electrical resistance no
greater than 100k Mega ohms and steel midsole plate for nail penetration resistance of sole at no less than 1100 N
S2 Footwear includes an internal steel toecap tested to 200-joule compression and water resistant leather
S3 Footwear includes an internal steel toecap tested to 200-joule compression, water resistant leather and steel midsole plate for
nail penetration resistance of sole at no less than 1100 N
SBP Footwear includes an internal steel toecap tested to 200-joule compression and steel midsole plate for nail penetration
resistance of sole at not less then 1100 N
