8 Weeks
1.Knowledge and Understanding
Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of t hese styles of music studied. They will be able to
express understanding of the music studied.
2.Application
They will develop an idea, theme or personal interpretation to a point of realization, expressing some of their artistic
intentions through a formative study thereof.
4.Personal Engagement
They will demonstrate curiosity, self-motivation, initiative and a willingness to take informed risks after completing this
unit.

Students will develop skills and apply techniques and processes involved to create successful compositions.

music

Students will demonstrate more knowledge and understanding of the harmonic elements of this art form studied, including
more specialized language, concepts and processes used.
2.Application
They will develop skills and apply techniques and processes involved to create coherent harmonic effects
3.Reflection and Evaluation
They will reflect on their own artistic development and processes of different stages of their work and use feedback to
develop these techniques.
4. World Exploration
How does music communicate
across different cultures?
6 Weeks
1.Knowledge and Understanding
Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of different world music forms studied. They will be
able to express an informed opinion of the music studied.
2.Application
Students will develop an idea, theme or personal interpretation to a point of realization, expressing some of their artistic
intentions. They will develop skills and apply the techniques and processes involved in creating, performing and/or
presenting an example of world music.
4.Personal Engagement
Students will be receptive to the various ways in which art practices present themselves from culture to culture after
completing this unit on world exploration.
5. Theory and Aural Skills
