The Government of Ghana signed a 5 year Compact (Agreement) on 1 st August 2006 with the Government of the United States of America (USA), for a grant
fund of $547,009.00 million to reduce poverty, by enhancing economic growth in Ghana. The Compact goal is Poverty Reduction through Economic Growth.
The key to advancing the goal focuses on increasing the production and productivity of high‐value cash and food crops and enhancing the competitiveness of
Ghana’s high‐value cash and other food crops in both local and international markets.
The Program has three main components, namely Agricultural Transformation, Transportation Infrastructure Development and the Rural Services
Development Projects to be implemented in three Intervention Zones namely;
• the Southern Horticultural Belt which comprises Upper Manya Krobo, Lower Manya Krobo, Yilo Krobo, Dangme West Awutu‐Senya, Gomoa East,
Gomoa West, Kpandu, Akatsi, South Tongu, Ketu South, Ketu North Districts and Akwapim South, Effutu, Hohoe & Keta Municipalities);
• the Afram Basin Zone which comprises Ejura‐Sekyedumasi, Kwahu South, Kwahu East, Fanteakwa, Kwahu North, Sekyere West, Nsuta‐Kwamang‐
Beposo, Sekyere East, Kumawu‐Afram Plains Districts and the Asante‐Mampong Municipality); and
• the Northern Agricultural Zone (Savelugu‐Nanton, Tolon Kumbungu, Karaga & West Mamprusi Districts and the Tamale Metropolis).
The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) the body set up by the Government of Ghana to oversee and manage the
implementation of MCA Ghana Program and the people of Ghana, recognize the immense potential of the Millennium Challenge
Compact to transform Ghana’s economy.

MiDA through the help of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture have registered over 600 farmers in the first phase of registration nationwide. The
registration of FBOs will continue throughout the Compact period. MiDA wishes to advise all farmers who desire to benefit from the
Commercialisation of Agriculture Project of the Millennium Challenge Account Ghana Compact, that:-

FBO Registration is the first step towards the support for farmers in the 31 Districts
Interested farmers must feel free to engage with the District Directors of Agriculture (DDAOs)
Registration is Free of Charge. On no account should any Farmer pay monies to any Official to be registered.
Any Farmer(s) approached to make payments to any purported Official for the purpose of Registration, should refuse to make such payment and
must report to the nearest MiDA Official at any of the addresses below:-
