Karen Carlisle
Karen Carlisle, mother of Ryan Chronowic (2012), was born and raised in Toronto Canada.
She graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Arts. She worked for a variety of
companies mostly in HR roles. In 1995, Karen moved with her husband's relocation to
Vancouver, then Raleigh, and Paris France. During her time in Paris she was actively involved
with the American School of Paris PTA, plus started a cake decorating business. During the
elementary years she volunteered as classroom mom, class photographer, scrapbook instructor
and party coordinator. She continued her volunteer endeavors at Cary Academy including Grade
Level Rep and Auction committee. Karen currently serves as one of the Upper School Parent
Representatives. Karen also is involved in Ryan’s travel hockey organization as board member
and team manager.
Vicky Ravenel
I currently live in Cary with my husband Sam and two children who both attend Cary Academy.
My daughter Tori is a current senior and my son Nathan is a sophomore. I have served as PTAA
Parent Representative for my son’s 9 th grade class as well as his 10 th grade class. I have
enjoyed getting to know parents throughout the Middle School and Upper School by participating
in such activities as Holiday Shoppe, Charger Cup, and Fun Fest. Sam and I have lived in the
Triangle since the early 1980s and have raised our children here. I am a Speech Pathologist by
training but have chosen to suspend my practice to focus on being a wife and mother. I love
being part of the Cary Academy Community and working with all of the bright and talented
parents and students who strive daily to create a first class learning environment.
