ABERLE
A memorable victory last weekend for the Kings against a highly fancied Rostrevor outfit at Campbelltown Oval. On a
day where a huge crowd were on hand to congratulate Drew Litster on 1000 career goals, the script certainly didn’t go
to plan for the ROCs. James Pinkney and Ben Hill-Ling dominated in the backline, restricting Drew to a single goal in
the later stages of the match after a dubious free kick was awarded. The Kings were simply irresistible, playing a high
intensity, highly skilful and fast running game. Many players believe it is the highest quality football they have been
involved with. The guys were certainly jubilant after the game and the result was just rewards for the continued commitment
and dedication the players have shown.
Round 15 is proudly sponsored by Kennett Builders. They are the premier commercial and industrial builders in this
state. With offices in Adelaide and Mount Gambier they have taken out a bag of awards in recent times for their outstanding
work including the Building Excellence Award in 2009. Our thanks to James ‘Jack’ Kennett and the team at
Kennett Builders for their ongoing support of our Club.
On Saturday the Kings will take on the PHOS Camden at Haslam Oval. In very similar circumstances last year the
Kings had a big victory against the Phantoms at home and after last weeks display, there is no reason to suggest why
history wont repeat. Wayne ‘The Weed’ Weiderman will certainly have his charges ready for action as they look to
setup their finals campaign in 2010, while our boys will be looking to build on the form of last week.
On the other side of Adelaide, Crawford Giles will line up for his 200 th game for the Pembroke Kings at PHOS Camden.
The likes of Rasheed, Rochow, Wilson, Chidley, Fotheringham, Prider, Staritski and Eitzen will all don the green and
gold one more time in respect for Crawford. It is a significant achievement for Crawford and I encourage supporters to
head down Anzac Highway and pay their tributes to man that has given the Club so much over his career. Presentations
held at the Kensington Hotel from 7pm will also acknowledge Crawfs great achievement.
Thanks
My thanks to Patrick Walsh who helped out the Club at short notice during the week and did a superb job.
