COUNTY OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
Disability Retirement – Support legislation to provide that in order to qualify for disability retirement,
a person must demonstrate that they cannot perform their current job or a comparable job requiring less
physical exertion.
Police Officers’ Retirement System – Support legislation to provide a comprehensive set of criteria for
employee eligibility into the Police Officers’ Retirement System as opposed to “piecemealing” employee
groups into the system.
ELECTIONS
Absentee Voting Across County Lines – Oppose legislation allowing absentee voting across county lines.
Absentee Voting Precinct Hours – Oppose legislation that would require absentee voting precincts to be
closed earlier than 5:00 p.m. on the Monday before the election.
Candidate Certification – Support legislation to require all candidates to be certified within seven
business days after filing closes.
Early Voting – Support legislation to authorize no-excuse absentee voting up to 15 days prior to an election
to end at 5:00 p.m. on the Friday before the election. Remove the witness signature requirement for absentee
ballots.
Election Workers’ Withholdings – Support legislation to eliminate all state withholdings from the wages
of election workers.
Fusion Voting – Oppose legislation that would amend the current voting system for candidates running
under multiple parties unless funding is provided to make the necessary changes to voting machines and
to train poll workers, and a mechanism is devised to address straight party voting.
Identification Required as Proof for Right to Vote – Oppose legislation that would create any
additional identification requirements for voting.
Legal Notices for Elections – Support legislation to amend the current timeline to publish the first
election notice from 60 days to 45 days prior to the election date.
Online Voter Registration – Support legislation to allow online registration by utilizing electronic
signatures from the S.C. Department of Motor Vehicles.
