‣ In Madhya Maharashtra, due to subdued rainfall activity during the season, sowing could not be done in many<br />

parts of the districts like Pune, Solapur, Sangli and Satara; farmers are advised to undertake contingency plans as<br />

mentioned in Annexure III:<br />

‣ All districts of Konkan and most of the districts of Vidarbha and some districts of Madhya Maharashtra and<br />

Marathwada received significant rain during last week.<br />

• In Konkan, farmers are advised to continue transplanting of rice.<br />

• In Madhya Maharashtra (Nashik, Kolhapur, Satara districts), farmers are advised to continue transplanting of<br />

rice and finger millet, sowing of kharif groundnut, soybean and red gram. In remaining districts of Madhya<br />

Maharashtra, continue sowing of kharif bajra, soybean, cotton and red gram.<br />

• In Marathwada (Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Hingoli and Nanded districts) farmers are advised to continue<br />

sowing of kharif soybean, red gram and cotton.<br />

• In East Vidarbha undertake transplanting of rice (dhan) and also continue sowing of kharif soybean, redgram<br />

and cotton.<br />

‣ Famers in Jalgaon, Dhule and Nandurbar districts are advised to continue sowing of kharif bajra, soybean, cotton,<br />

red gram with the help of recent monsoon showers.<br />

‣ In south Saurashtra region, 35% sowing of cotton, groundnut and 5% sowing of maize completed. Sowing is<br />

presently withheld due to subdued rainfall. Due to receipt of sufficient rainfall in north Gujarat region farmers are<br />

advised to start sowing of pearl millet (recommended upto 15 <strong>July</strong>); pulses viz. green gram, cow pea, black gram,<br />

kidney bean, cluster bean and groundnut (erect variety GG.2), maize, sesamum as a part of contingency planning.<br />

In dry farming area, farmers are also planning for sowing of castor. Sowing of maize in South Gujarat region<br />

(Dahod, Panchmahal, Vadodara) is continued and in Anand district, sowing of kharif crops is in full swing. In<br />

Navsari district, normal sowing of rice, bajra, maize, tur, moong, urad is continued and 50% sowing of groundnut<br />

is completed.<br />

‣ In view of occurrence of significant rain during last week, farmers in Middle Gujarat Zone are advised to<br />

undertake sowing of groundnut, green gram and castor.<br />

‣ Farmers in Bhal and Coastal Zone of Gujarat are advised to continue sowing of kharif crops and prepare nursery<br />

for kharif vegetables. Carry out hand weeding / inter-culturing in kharif crops followed by thinning operation in<br />

early sown crops.<br />

‣ Farmers in North West Zone of Gujarat are advised to land preparation and sowing of kharif crops after receiving<br />

sufficient rain.<br />

‣ Farmers in South Saurashtra Zone of Gujarat are advised to spray 100 gm Ferrous Sulphate and 10 gram Citric<br />

Acid in 10 liter of water, if groundnut crop is showing yellowishness. Carry out intercultural and weeding in<br />

cotton. Take pigeon pea as intercrop in groundnut.<br />

‣ In area of North Saurashtra Zone of Gujarat where monsoon sowing is over and crops are suffering from moisture<br />

stress, farmers are advised to carry out inercultural operation, weeding and thinning in green gram, black gram,<br />

sesame and bajra. Farmers with irrigation facility, apply lifesaving irrigation under acute moisture stress.<br />

‣ Due to occurrence of sufficient rain and likely occurrence of rainfall at most places in South Gujarat Heavy<br />

Rainfall Zone of Gujarat State, farmers are advised to carry out sowing of castor, bajra, sorghum, kharif pulses<br />

like green gram, black gram, pigeon pea, cow pea and transplanting of kharif rice. Carry out weeding and<br />

intercultural operation in early sown crops.<br />

‣ As Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar and Mehsana districts in North Gujarat Zone received sufficient rain,<br />

carry out sowing of pearl millet, pulses like green gram, cow pea, black gram, kidney bean and cluster bean;<br />

ground nut (errect variety GG.2), maize, sesamum and transplanting of papaya. Carry out interculturing and hand<br />

weeding operations in groundnut and cotton to conserve soil moisture.<br />

‣ Varieties of kharif crops are mentioned in Annexure II.<br />

‣ Due to subdued rainfall activity in Kolhapur region during last 2-3 days, there may be attack of white woolly<br />

aphids in old adsali sugarcane, farmers are advised to remove lower dried leaves and apply Themate@4 kg/acre.<br />

‣ Stages of major crops are mentioned in Annexure-I.<br />

Animal Husbandry:<br />

‣ Due to likely occurrence of rainfall at most places in South Gujarat Heavy Rainfall Zone of Gujarat, keep animals<br />

indoors during rainfall. Keep fodder in safe place to avoid spoilage due to rainfall.<br />

CENTRAL INDIA [M.P., CHHATTISGARH]<br />

Realised Rainfall: Significant rainfall occurred in all districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh (except<br />

Dhamtari district).<br />

Rainfall Forecast: Rain/thundershowers would occur at a few places over Punjab, Chhattisgarh, East Madhya<br />

Pradesh and at one or two places over rest of the region.<br />
