PASTOR’S MESSAGE
Dear Parishioners,
The question that John the Baptist sends his followers to ask Jesus in today’s gospel has been asked by others, year
after year, age after age, since the time of Christ. Is Jesus Christ truly the Messiah? Is the world redeemed? Millions of
people have decided that the answer is no. It would be very difficult to answer otherwise if we were to base our response on
the world of today as mirrored in any daily newspaper.
People senselessly killing others; the on-going turmoil in the Middle East; thousands dying of hunger in Africa; the
constant threat of terrorism are all examples of evil. Yes, it would be difficult to make an act of faith that the Messiah, He
who was to be the Prince of Peace, has truly come in the person of Jesus Christ if we were to judge only by externals.
But our Messiah, our Christ, warned us that there would be troubles. There would be famines and wars,
but He urged us to hang on to our faith and our hope, for the Kingdom of God is within. For God in the
person of His Messiah to have rid the world of all hatred and greed, He would have had to destroy human
nature, stripping all of humanity of freedom of choice, locking us into a programmed goodness that would
render our very goodness an automatic and determined response and not one chosen out of love for God
and for one’s fellow human beings. For there to be a mystery of goodness there must be a mystery of the
capacity to do wrong.
Yes, the Kingdom of God, the peace of God, is basically an inner quality that is available to us in the midst
of the worst of times and events. Truly, there is much evil in our world. There are many people who have
committed themselves to the scramble for power, wealth, and pleasure, and they do not care at all who may
be injured in the process.
However, the person who through faith and hope and love maintains an open and loving relationship with God and
with the people in his or her life lives in a protected environment of grace. When you seek to live a life of loving care and
compassion, you will not automatically be protected from experiencing grief or pain; neither was Christ Himself. In fact,
Christ tells us that it is precisely through the grief and pain that results from the love of goodness that we are made strong.
When Christ said, “Blessed are they who mourn, they will be comforted,” He was not speaking to us of only those
times when we would be grieving the loss of a loved one by death. He also promises comfort to all who grieve when, instead
of love in this life, we encounter evil and suffering.
The redeeming peace that Christ has indeed already brought to this troubled world is that peace of heart that springs
from faith, hope, and love. Our faith tells us that no evil, no disaster, no cosmic tragedy, is greater nor more powerful than
God. Our hope assures us that God made us for an eternity of loving fulfillment and that it is ours now in seed, and will surely
come to fulfillment in God’s time. This faith and this hope, more than anything else, gives us reason to love. And it is in
loving ourselves and in loving each other that the peace of heaven begins here on earth.

RCIA=Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
This weekend, at the 11:00AM Mass on Sunday, we will celebrate the Rite of Acceptance/Welcome into the
Catechumenate for those adults who have expressed interest in the Catholic Church, Matthew Houck will
become a catechumen preparing for Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. Lisa Atkinson, Ryan Krapf,
Melissa Mikolajczyk, Hanna Shiffert and William Bergman are preparing for the reception of the sacraments
of Confirmation and Eucharist. Let us support them by our prayers as they continue their journey of faith in
the RCIA process.

Gospel: Matthew 11:2-11 While in prison, John sends a
messenger to Jesus to ask, “Are you He who is to come or do
we look for another?” Jesus replies by citing the miracles He
has performed for the blind, the deaf, and the crippled. He
concludes by identifying John as the messenger He has sent
to prepare the way.
“They will see the glory of the Lord, the splendor of our
God. Strengthen the hands that are feeble, make firm the
knees that are weak. Say to those whose hearts are
frightened: Be strong, fear not! Here is your God, He
comes with vindication; with divine recompense He comes
to save you… They will meet with joy and gladness, sorrow
and mourning will flee.”
Our time of waiting may be spent in several ways. We can
simply acknowledge that something is happening. We can
passively spend time doing nothing like waiting for a bus or
plane. We might recall advents and Christmases of the past.
None of these forms of waiting fit the year 2010. We live
advent with eagerness, great joy and expectation, so that we
may see the glory and splendor of God. With enthusiasm we
‘get ourselves in shape’ to be strong and look forward to the
Lord’s appearance in our lives.
His coming is as a Savior. He has a purpose in mind, to offer
us the gift of salvation. It is a reward because of our
goodness. How we spend our time in preparation might
determine how filled with joy and gladness we shall be when
this season of preparation ends. Treat yourself with a time
out. Decide if He is the one who is to come, or whether to
look for another. If He is the One, prepare His way.

The 38th Annual March for Life will be held on Monday, January 24, 2011 in Washington, DC. Corpus Christi Parish will send
2 buses to Washington to attend this peaceful and prayerful demonstration bearing witness to the dignity of human life from
conception to natural death.
Schedule for the day is as follows:
Leave Corpus Christi parking lot at 6:00AM promptly.
Arrive in Washington, DC and attend 10AM Mass at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, celebrated by Cardinal
Rigali. After Mass, you can tour the Shrine and eat lunch. At the given time, we will take the Metro (tickets provided) to the site
of the March. If physically able, we would like you to walk in the March (approximately one mile). Return to Shrine and leave
at 4 PM. Cost for adults is $38 for bus and dinner at Country Buffet. No change in cost from last year. Cost for students is $14
for dinner, bus is free for all students and an adult must accompany them. Everyone should bring a bag lunch and a drink. Bus
returns to Corpus Christi by 9PM. Sign-ups start now. Sign-up board is in the Narthex of Church and you must pay in full to

The Ryan Memorial Library at Saint Charles Borromeo
Seminary is sponsoring an art exhibit, free and open to the

Monsignor Louis D’Addezio and Ms. Dorothy Ann Gleason,

Participants of the TLC Ministry create handcrafted items,
such as, shawls and blankets, and then offer them as an act of
stewardship to anyone in our parish who needs a little Tender
Loving Care. Bring your own projects and ideas, knitting or
crocheting needles, and yarn. Enjoy a prayerful atmosphere
among friends who share your talent. Hot and cold

from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. Coaching is available upon
request. If you are unable to make our sessions, but would

O Antiphons
December 17 marks the beginning of the O Antiphons,
the seven jewels of our liturgy, dating back to the fourth
century, one for each day until Christmas Eve. These
antiphons address Christ with seven magnificent
Messianic titles, based on the Old Testament prophecies
and types of Christ. The Church recalls the variety of the
ills of man before the coming of the Redeemer.

New Year's Eve Party!
The Knights of Columbus Council #9715 will host our
annual parish New Year's Eve Party on Friday, December 31,
2010 from 8PM–1AM in the Fr. Doyle Social Hall. Cost is
$40 per person, and includes Dinner, DJ Entertainment,

COMMUNITY SUNDAY – December 12th
Everyone is invited to join us for refreshments in
the Social Hall after the 8:00, 9:30, and
11:00 masses this Sunday. Community
Sunday is a nice way to come together
after mass, meet other parishioners, or
catch up with friends. The coffee is hot and the donuts are
fresh!

A project of the Legion of Mary, works with homeless men.
The men take showers, and we supply them with clean socks,
underwear and pants. We need T-Shirts, WHITE athletic Socks,
Underwear, and Work pants. Clothing does not have to be new,
just clean. (These items are needed all year round.) Please
bring your donations to the Ministry Room, place into large
grey container and call Frank B. at 610-272-2461.
Box Tops and Campbell's Soup Labels Needed!!
Corpus Christi continues to collect General Mills Box Tops and
Campbell's Soup Labels as a fundraiser for our school. Box
Tops for Education can be found on many items produced by
General Mills or its subsidiaries including Pillsbury, Betty
Crocker, Ziploc, Huggies and others. Campbell's Labels for
Education are not only on soups, but also on Pepperidge Farms
products (including bread bags) and some Swanson products.
A cardboard box is located on one of the tables in the Narthex
for the collection of your box tops coupons and soup labels.
Please take a minute before you toss out that can or box and
check it for a coupon!!! If you have any questions about this

SCRIP CORNER
Do you buy even just one gift card for a
Christmas present? Then why not buy it from
our SCRIP program to help our fund-raising
cause. The SCRIP program consists of many
different “gift cards/certificates” that Corpus
Christi is able to purchase at a discount. The
SCRIP office sells them to you at face value,
so you are not paying any more money than
you would be paying at the store. You will
have an account set up in our computer
system that records your purchases and
accumulates a credit for you to use for tuition
or REC fees at ANY Catholic grade school,
high school or college.
These credits can be used for you, your
children, nieces/nephews, grandchildren, or
even strangers you meet on the street! We
actually apply credits to the Father Loughran
Scholarship Fund if a family elects to do so.
You can accumulate credits for years before
you use them, so if you just had a baby and
are not even thinking about school yet, you
can start using this program to accumulate
credits so that when the time comes, you will
be ready!

Job Opening REC Office
An assistant is needed for the REC office. On Mondays the
hours are 4–8:30PM and as needed during the week for
administrative work for REC teachers. All-day hours are
required 4 to 5 x’s a year for in house retreats during
sacramental preparation and on the actual day of sacrament
reception. Some summer hours required when mailings are

BAPTISM INSTRUCTION SESSIONS: Parents and Godparents
must attend Pre-Jordan Sacramental Preparation before the
Baptism takes place. Prior to attendance, parents are requested to
pre-register for the session by contacting the Parish Center Office
215-855-1311. Although instruction sessions are mandatory for
both Parents and Godparents, you are required to attend one time
only. If you have attended previously you are not required to come
again. Ideally, attendance at the preparation session should occur
before the child’s birth. Upcoming sessions are scheduled in the
RE Room (in the church), at 7:30 PM on the 3rd Monday of
the month: December 20th, January 16th and February 21st.
REQUIREMENTS FOR GODPARENTS
must be a registered member of a Catholic Parish and
receive a Certificate of Eligibility from that Parish and
have attended the Pre-Jordan Baptism class
must have completed his/her 16th birthday
must have been Baptized - Confirmed - received First
Holy Communion - and actively practicing their faith -
e.g., attending Mass, receiving Holy Communion -
receiving the Sacrament of Penance
if married - must be living in a valid sacramental marriage
cannot be the parent of the child to be baptized
the godparents are to be one male and one female
one godparent may be a non-Catholic Christian witness
with proper proof of his/her baptism — if a non-Catholic
is asked to be a Christian witness - the other godparent
MUST be Catholic
a person who has left the Catholic Faith for any reason,
may not be asked to carry out this responsibility
Please note: The paperwork for the child’s baptism and
certificates of eligibility MUST be completed at least two weeks
prior to scheduling a baptism date.
Certificates of eligibility must have a parish seal and cannot be
faxed; they must be the original.
Baptism is administered at 1:30PM EVERY SUNDAY.
DAILY PRAYER CHAPEL OPEN: Visits to the Blessed
Sacrament during the day may be made in the Church Chapel. The
Chapel is open every day from 9AM to 3:30PM except Wednesday
when it is open until 6:30PM. Please enter the chapel using the
entrance walk on the side of the Parish House facing Supplee Road.
EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
WEDNESDAYS
Eucharistic Adoration is scheduled every Wednesday,
from 8:30 AM til 6:30 PM in the Church Chapel.
Benediction is at 6:30 PM. (Novena devotions
immediately following). Please enter the chapel using the
entrance walk on the side of the Parish House facing
Supplee Rd. (For information, please call 215-855-
1311).
LEGION OF MARY: Wednesday evenings, 7:30 to 9:00
PM, in the Ministry Room of Corpus Christi Church. New
members are sincerely welcomed at all meetings.
MARRIAGES: Couples who are planning to be married
are required to notify one of the parish priests no less than
six months prior to the marriage and attend a Pre-Cana session.
NOVENA DEVOTIONS: Devotions honoring the Immaculate
Heart of Mary are offered on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the
month, and devotions to honor St. Peregrine, Patron Saint of
Cancer Patients, are offered on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the
month, at 6:30PM in the Chapel. All are welcome to attend.
OUR LADY OF HOPE PRAYER LINE: The Prayer Line may
