GUEST SESSION DESCRIPTIONS<br />

Every year EWMA invites different organisations to present a guest session at the EWMA Conference. This<br />

serves to increase awareness and also to allow Conference <strong>part</strong>icipants learn more about activities relating<br />

to, but not necessarily primarily focused on, wound healing and management. It also serves to increase<br />

scientific cooperation and networking with organisations active in thematic issues related to wound healing<br />

and management.<br />

A number of EWMA <strong>part</strong>ner organisations will be <strong>part</strong> of the EWMA 2015 programme, in which the<br />

following guest sessions will take place:<br />

World Alliance for Wound & Lymphedema Care (WAWLC)<br />

About WAWLC:<br />

WAWLC is a global <strong>part</strong>nership between health organizations, non-governmental<br />

organizations, health professional associations, academic and research institutions,<br />

industry, and individuals interested in advancing wound care and lymphoedema management<br />

worldwide.<br />

The WAWLC mission is to work in <strong>part</strong>nership with communities worldwide in settings with<br />

limited re-sources to advance the sustainable prevention and care of wounds and<br />

lymphoedema. WAWLC started as a working group in 2007 and was officially launched<br />

as global <strong>part</strong>nership in 2009.<br />

Title: Update on WAWLC Activities in Resource-limited Settings<br />

The session will cover the following topics:<br />

• The WAWLC standard wound kit for use in resource-poor settings: From idea to<br />

prototype<br />

• Wound and lymphedema care in resource-limited settings in South-east Asia<br />

• Reflections on lessons learned from wound care course in Yaoundé, Cameroon<br />

• Update on WAWLC activities in Haiti<br />

About ESPEN:<br />

ESPEN is dedicated to all issues relevant to the field of clinical nutrition and metabolism<br />

and promotes:<br />

• Basic and clinical research<br />

• Basic and advanced education<br />

• The organisation of consensus statements about clinical care and care quality control<br />

The aims of ESPEN are to encourage the rapid diffusion of knowledge and its application<br />

in the field of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition or, more broadly, Clinical Nutrition and<br />

Metabolism.<br />
