The Polk County Sheriff ’s Office and <strong>Heartland</strong> <strong>Crime</strong><br />
<strong>Stoppers</strong>, Inc., announce a new program th<strong>at</strong> rewards anonymous<br />
callers for alerting law enforcement to the presence of illegally<br />
possessed firearms.<br />
Through this program, citizens are encouraged to turn<br />
in felons with guns and report anyone who has a stolen gun, is<br />
illegally in possession of a gun, or provide the loc<strong>at</strong>ion of a gun th<strong>at</strong><br />
has been used in a crime.<br />
It is illegal for a convicted felon to possess a firearm. And it is<br />
illegal to possess a stolen gun, an illegally altered gun, or a gun th<strong>at</strong><br />
has had its serial numbers removed.<br />
Anyone who has inform<strong>at</strong>ion can call <strong>Heartland</strong> <strong>Crime</strong><br />
<strong>Stoppers</strong> <strong>at</strong> <strong>800</strong>-<strong>226</strong>-<strong>TIPS</strong> (<strong>8477</strong>) and report a person illegally<br />
possessing a gun. If an arrest is made and a gun is recovered from<br />
the inform<strong>at</strong>ion received, the tipster will be eligible for a $500<br />
reward. All calls will remain confidential and no one will ever ask<br />
any caller for their name or phone number. <strong>Call</strong>ers will not be<br />
required to testify in court on rel<strong>at</strong>ed cases.<br />

commit violent crimes. And we know th<strong>at</strong> there are plenty of folks<br />
out there who know who the bad guys are in their area—they know<br />
if they have guns or not. Give us an anonymous call, tell us who<br />
and where they are—give us as much inform<strong>at</strong>ion as you can—<br />
and we will investig<strong>at</strong>e. If we find someone illegally possessing a gun, we will arrest them and give the person who gave us the<br />

· If your inform<strong>at</strong>ion leads to an arrest and the recovery of an illegal firearm you will receive a cash reward of $500. No<br />
