May want to check board policy..pretty sure this is NOT acceptable! I donate a lot of my *time* :) if there is a specific aim for the donation and not a general fund. What types of fundraisers or events would you like to see at Castor Valley in the future? All new ideas are welcome! - Responses Answer Respondent I would love to see an art card fundraiser. Not sure which company it is but every year we get christmas cards from friends in the UK & they have been printed with their child's drawing on the front. They're done quickly & easily in class, sent off to be printed, & parents buy a whole pack of their cards that have been designed by their child. I have no suggestion. I think CVES covers lots of activity throughout the year. art show where the children sell large paintings -maybe even try an auction I would like to see a group organization for the Ottawa Race Weekend. It would support the ciriculum of fitness within the school community. The Greely school did it this year. support for school supplies in particular schools in third-world countries Dances Halloween Dance for all ages on a Friday Night. Popcorn, kids receive an order form on friday/Monday return with money by Wednesday and get their personal size bags on Friday afternoon. It would be great to have something leading up to the Christmas Holidays... perhaps a mini-talent show with a winter-theme. n/a I would like to see a better communicated fundraising plan and articulate what the goals are. There is WAY TOO MUCH PRESSURE on the kids for this fundraising. My kids were so worried about this all the time, and as a busy parent, I don't have the time to track everything! I have offered to do a Tupperware fundraiser where your school will get 40% from flyer sales and 10% from catalogue sales, but was told it would be too much paper work. I offered to do it for them and no luck. This would bring in a ton of extra cash for the school Maybe you should consider this for next year??? Chocolate bar sales and/or popcorn. I think that the council should take into consideration families with multiple children. Perhaps one form could be sent per family rather then per child. CVES clothing, hats, water bottles and knap sacks raffle of a large item (ie a trip or something like this) I think you are at your limit for fund raising events. If any more events are added, I feel it is really going to turn people off. My daughter is finishing grade 8 and will not return next year. A new sound system for the gym music system for Gym I think it would be nice if the council could donate some funds to the Grade 8 graduation. I found it quite dissappinting that after 10 years of my child being at this school no money was put towards the graduation or the end of the yesr trip for the grade 8. Our children , I have 4 will never play on the structure that we have contributed towards Team building initiatives,motivational speaker, playground enhancement, music program and arts program It was our first year at Castor Valley. I was very impressed with what the school council does already. :)Thanks for all your hard work! art programs - I think that some of the opportunities that were offered to the kids interested in art were great. I think that the free the children program is great and builds on the character program that you have at the school. Field trip for all grades at year end I was happy to hear about the support for Japan this year. Any ad-hoc support for community/global events is appreciated. New sound system. Focus on education for boys. Preferably split classes based on gender. Terry fox, jump rope or heart lights for stage productions/christmas show Supplying our sports teams with black shorts so that they look like a team. It's an amazing moral booster. More enjoyable field trips. Kids are quite tired of museums and would appreciate other (perhaps further than the city limits) places to visit. enhance music and sports equipment 23
