PRO Grant Report (excellent parent attendance and teacher participation, $1000 spent – 4 sessions –<br />

attendance records submitted to board translate into funds back into school budget)<br />

Nobody Dolls – Jo-Ann LaCharity suggested that it would be nice to showcase Nobody Dolls at school events<br />

in the foyer<br />

Lunch Program update for next year – AJs catering worked at Greely ES this year and has tweaked menu for<br />

new nutrition requirements ($3.50-4.00 per meal); many students with allergies at Greely ES and no problems<br />

with lunch program. Trudy will contact AJ’s for information for next year (maybe post menu on website)<br />

Staff Appreciation Luncheon Fri. <strong>June</strong> 24, 10:55 – 12:30 (first nutrition break; and allows for JK/SK teachers)<br />

Ministry of Education Fundraising Guidelines consultation (ends August <strong>2011</strong>) – unclear right now direction<br />

taken by ministry; if interested, you can express opinions on Ministry of Education website<br />

Thanks to <strong>School</strong> <strong>Council</strong> – Heather says thanks for the wonderful experience as; amazed by incredible<br />

contributions by everyone on council; what a great group of people with great skills and incredible attitudes<br />

resulting in very high level of parent engagement at CVES which hopefully benefits all our students.<br />

Nominating Committee update<br />

- 3 parents have volunteered to be Treasurer and will split the job (one counting money; one reporting, etc.)<br />

- Susanna has been Treasurer for 3 years and was Treasurer at previous school (will remain as a member-atlarge)<br />

Everyone (except Crystal Kirkpatrick) will return next year – although all roles are open for next year<br />

Perhaps consider co-chairs for council next year<br />

9. OCASC ‘Delegate Report – Heather<br />

OCASC AGM new executive to be ratified at Sept. meeting as quorum not achieved<br />

update on the PIC (Parent Involvement Committee) & draft handbook for PICs from Ministry of Education;<br />

This year’s chair of OCASC is the current PIC chair<br />

10. Raisin Artists Grant – Lauriel (2010/11 grant) & Jen & Shannon (<strong>2011</strong>/12 grant application)<br />

- artist Dale Taylor worked with CVES teacher and parent volunteer Lauriel Wills in May/<strong>June</strong><br />

- Mme Kelly was very flexible (3/4 split class) – made clay pinch pots fired up the kiln (kiln can hold 150 small<br />

projects at one time)<br />

- very successful experience - students learned a lot and had fun<br />

- Mrs. Tomlinson got students to write about their experience (photos as well)<br />

- thanks to Mme Holmes for her patience and for donating space for storing the materials<br />

- teacher workshop set for the fall (date TBA); Mme Rolland and others are interested<br />

- communicate this project/use of resource (kiln) via newsletter<br />

We applied for the grant this year <strong>2011</strong>/12 for Grade 2 – but NO ONE was selected (no group met the<br />

criteria) – can reapply in September (criteria – one full class for one full day) – could school council possibly<br />

augment the grant to include all Grade 2 classes – Jo Ann LaCharity signed on the grant<br />
