11. Round Table (volunteers, class reps, community liaison, Canadian Parents for French CPF) Community Liaison – Kim (no report) Student Volunteer BBQ held Thurs. June 16 (Green Team, Lunch Monitors, Library Helpers, Ambassadors) – was a big success! Estimated 120 student volunteers Character Development Certificates – Heather Wyche needs someone to ‘filter’ the ballots 12. Recognition of Teacher Representative on School Council Gisèle Gratton, outgoing Principal Marnie Patterson & outgoing Council Chair Heather Wilson Marnie & Gisele were presented with Gifts from CVESC Heather presented with a gift from CVESC Marnie, Heather & Gisele all expressed thanks for the amazing parent community at CVES! 13. New Business • Has been warm – some parents concerned about heat in Chalets (portables); the school itself is air conditioned (rare in OCDSB); Mme Gratton indicated the lack of air conditioning is not a huge problem – foyer/library available; in June there are often classrooms available due to field trips; Cost is $10,000 per Chalet (due to wiring issues); requires carpenters/electricians; also the window units are noisy; Two newest portables have air conditioning; OCDSB and Ottawa Public Health monitor heat; we will keep our ears open for parent concerns. 14. Adjournment & Next Meeting Thurs. Sept. 8 at 7 pm in the library No barbeque this year at Meet the Teacher night (firefighters are unavailable on Wednesday nights due to training; perhaps a bring your own picnic idea instead) – this info should be in newsletter 6
