Archbishop Thomas Wenski has made the following
appointments:
• Monsignor James R. Dixon, Chaplain to the
Knights of Columbus, Council #13118, at Saint
Anthony Parish, Ft. Lauderdale, effective
August 5, 2011.
• Monsignor Tomás M. Marín, Chaplain to the
Knights of Columbus, Council #5972, at Saint
Timothy Parish, Miami, effective August 10, 2011.
• Reverend David Zirilli, Director of the Society for
the Propagation of the Faith, effective August 22,
2011.
• Reverend Damian Flanagan, Associate in
Residence at Little Flower Parish, Coral Gables,

SAINT PHILIP NERI PARISH
In conformity with canon 515.2 of the Code of
Canon Law, Archbishop Thomas Wenski has
decreed the re-opening of Saint Philip Neri Parish, in
Miami Gardens, effective October 1, 2011.
ARCHDIOCESAN MISSION OFFICE
Mrs. Teresita González has been appointed
Director of the Archdiocesan Mission Office while
continuing as Director of the lay missionary group
Amor en Acción, effective September 1, 2011.
OUR LADY OF CHARITY SHRINE
j Plenary Indulgences
Celebrating the 400 th anniversary of the appearance
of the image of the patroness of Cuba and the 50 th
anniversary of its replica in Miami, Archbishop
Thomas Wenski has decreed that plenary
indulgences may be obtained between September
8, 2011, to September 8, 2012, by the faithful who
visit the Shrine, in Miami, after fulfilling the required
conditions.
Effective August 31, 2011:
• Monsignor Terence Hogan, Associate
Ecumenical Officer for Miami-Dade County.
• Reverend Richard Mullen, O.S.A., Associate
Ecumenical Officer for Broward County.
To receive plenary indulgence, it is necessary to
fulfill 3 conditions: 1) receive the Sacrament of
Reconciliation, 2) receive Holy Communion and 3)
pray for the intentions of the Holy Father.

Reverend Elias C. Nwokeke, Cmf, a Claretian
Missionary, Province of Nigeria, and student of
Canon Law at the Lateran Pontifical University in
Rome, is offering his services for the Summer
months of July, August and September 2012.
He speaks fluent English, French, Italian and a
little of Spanish and German.

Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus
and Mary
j RETREAT
The Religious Sisters of the Servants of the Pierced
Hearts of Jesus and Mary invite the faithful to a
preparatory retreat for a total consecration to the
Blessed Virgin Mary (according to the doctrine of Saint
Louis of Montfort, the Magisterium and the life
experience of Blessed John Paul II).

Jessie Ball DuPont Funds
The Archdiocese of Miami is currently accepting
pre-proposals for grants from the Jessie Ball DuPont
Fund for the years 2011-2012.
To be seriously considered, applications must be
either from groups owned by or forming part of the
Archdiocese of Miami (e.g., as Catholic Charities,
parishes, schools), or financially supported by the
Archdiocese of Miami and with a representative of
the Archbishop on its governing board. Funding
may be requested for up to $150,000 over a threeyear
period. Proposals should reflect this time line
and funding level.
To receive guidelines in developing a Preliminary
Proposal, please send email to: hope@theadom.org.
Completed proposals must be post-marked and
received no later than October 10, 2011. Mail
completed preliminary proposals to:

GOLDEN JUBILEE CULTURAL SERIES
Tickets are now on sale for the inaugural event on
Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 8:00 pm, at the Roca
Theater, featuring famed alumnus and Broadway
performer, Raúl Esparza, in concert with special
guest Lucrecia. The performance also features the
Belen Jesuit Jazz Band conducted by Marlene
Urbay.
